Its simple, they are like sky barbarians. You just need to avoid or destroy Air defenses.
They do a better job together. In multiples of 10.
You should drop 1 minion before you drop your group of minions. If you don't do this, an air bomb might trigger, and BOOM your minions are gone.
both suggestions are great, but i think they should be used to give away as clan castle troops because they are one of the best ones to have in a clan castle. only archers, wizards, and other air troops can target them. so if the attacker doesnt use many of those, the minions can really set them back.
minions are best used with balloons for attacking, 30 balloons and 30 minions works great, just deploy balloons and put minions in after them
i used to do that and it worked extremly well. the only drawback was the training time.
I prefer using minions as a support troop as minions behind giants would do well. This would also work with archers, wizards and witches.
I use giants as a distraction, then drop in wizards, arhcers, and minions (I don't have witches). I then use 1-3 rage spells or 3 lighting spells to take out the air defenses.

then deploy the minnions and watch them wipe a base
ONLY FOR TOWNHALL LEVEL 9-10
for townhall level 9 remove 4 ballons
minions work great in BAM strategy as well. for 200 comp - 80 barbs, 80 archers, 20 minions
find bases where at least one of the AD is near the edge, use barbs and archers to destroy it and deploy minions in waves to avoid air bombs destroying all of them at once.
