Chapter 2: First battles of the Grand Warden
When Cedric arrived, it turned out that the opponent was committing suicide. The opposing heroes attacked without any other troop or spell support. They attacked the three Air Defences down at the south, one hero each. Fortunately, the mortars and cannons quickly took them down before they can do too much damage to the Air Defence. Things started to get better and better. The opponent was going to lose, Cedric thought.
He was wrong. They were going to lose. Opposing balloons floated through the sky, creating a menacing shadow over the tiny village. Clone spells were also deployed, causing more balloons to pop up. The dragons from the Clan Castle flew out to defend the village. However, a blue dragon-shaped flying object made Cedric curse like mad.
"Electro Dragon," he murmured.
A powerful Electro Dragon swooped through the sky, creating a deafening roar that shook the village. A Stone Slammer was also closing in. The dragons were taking down the balloons quite well, but they were quickly defeated after eating voltage from the Electro Dragon. The wizards and archers on their towers also fought bravely, but eventually were taken down too. That left the Air Defences, X-Bows, Inferno Towers, Eagle Artillery, and heroes to save the village. Queen Sophia was quite good, no doubt. She took down one Balloon every two shots. Meanwhile, the Electro Dragon found Cedric.
He quickly shot out rays of blinding light from his staff. The Electro Dragon, which was already heavily injured, quickly died, but Cedric himself was badly injured too. He looked around. There were only a few balloons left in the air, but the Stone Slammer is getting dangerously close to the Town Hall. Cedric tried his best to attack the Stone Slammer, but the Stone Slammer was a high-level one, which was not easy to defeat. He attacked twelve times or so, but the Stone Slammer does way too high damage. The fight was desperate.
All of a sudden, three arrows shot out from behind him, and he thought, Oh no. I am dying. We are losing. He waited for a moment or two, but he didn't feel any pain. He looked back and realized Queen Sophia was shooting at the Stone Slammer instead of him.
"Stop staring at me!" shouted Queen Sophia. "Attack!" Oh man, that was embarrassing, he told himself. He quickly put his focus on the Stone Slammer and sent it exploding into elixir.
"Where is King Albert?" asked Cedric.
Queen Sophia pointed somewhere west, where King Albert was stunned by an enemy balloon. He was defenceless against it.
"Wish me luck for shooting down the Lava Pups," said Queen Sophia.
"Good luck, then. Save the village!" said Cedric. He never noticed any Lava Hounds nor Lava Pups before Queen Sophia mentioned them, but now the pups seemed to be a threat to the multi-mortar. The village will be defeated if they do one more per cent of damage. Queen Sophia shot them down in a matter of seconds.
"The village is successfully defended!" announced Queen Sophia. Villagers and builders, who hid in the Town Hall earlier, lifted the three heroes back to their altars for healing. The ruined buildings were quickly fixed. The village has been restored to normal after a cleanup.
The heroes regained consciousness around an hour later, and King Albert proposed revenge, but the other two heroes disagreed.
"The opponent was a Town Hall level 12," said Queen Sophia.
"He may have a lot stronger defences than we are capable of," agreed Cedric.
"Then let's bully some Town Hall level 9!" exclaimed King Albert.
"Um..." began Queen Sophia.
"According to Chapter 47: Moral Values, bullying is..." Cedric read from his Book of Everything.
"Fine, fine, fine!" shouted King Albert. "No bullying Town Hall level 9! What now?"
"If you insist on attacking, you can attack the troublesome goblins," replied Queen Sophia. "Our current target should be a village called 'Besieged'."
"Then let's go and besiege some goblins!" exclaimed King Albert.
When they arrived at Besieged, everyone's jaw dropped. In the middle was the Goblin Town Hall, which was surrounded by four Eagle Artilleries. The eagle artillery was a deadly weapon that shot massive, glowing fireballs mercilessly towards enemies of the village. One Inferno Tower and two X-Bows in Ground and Air Mode were placed on all four sides of the village. The X-Bow was a powerful crossbow that was modified into a newer and stronger weapon. A few hits could cause enemies to perish immediately, causing elixir to explode from their fragile bodies. In front of them are two Air Defences, two Mortars, and two Archer Towers. Wizard Towers were placed in the corners. Besides all these, there are eight Goblin Huts and a few resource storages.
"How do we attack?" asked Cedric.
"First, we place the Wall Wrecker from Matthewleeisthebest at the northern corner..." began Queen Sophia.
"Matthewleeisthebest?" asked Cedric.
"Co-leader village," King Albert explained.
"So we put the Wall Wrecker there to make a path into the Goblin Town Hall. I will also go there to help it out," said Queen Sophia. "Then, we wait until the Wall Wrecker destroys the Goblin Town Hall. If it can't make it, the Electro Dragon from Kingwarrenthesecond..."
"Sorry to interrupt, but is Kingwarrenthesecond a co-leader village?" asked Cedric.
"It's an elder village," explained King Albert, who only wanted to charge and kill.
"...and the balloons from Radenneverloseshisbattles will come out..." continued Queen Sophia.
Cedric tried to speak, but then King Albert bellowed, "Stop interrupting! Where are your manners?
Cedric said, "Sorry but I just want to ask..."
"Radenneverloseshisbattles is the name of the leader village if you must know," said Queen Sophia.
"No, I mean I want to ask how come he manages to win all his battles?" asked Cedric. "He must be really good."
The royal couple exchanged a look that said, "He is hopeless."
"If those balloons and the Electro Dragon come out, that doesn't mean we lose the battle. In fact, the balloons may even destroy the Eagle Artilleries while the Electro Dragon deals with the Goblin Town Hall," continued Queen Sophia. "Then, we will launch another wave of attack from the western tip of the village. We will send in the bowlers. Deploy spells when necessary. You two will help the bowlers. Just follow them, ok? By the way, I may deploy some Wallbreakers to save time for the Wall Wrecker so that he can get to the centre faster. That's basically it." She quickly teleported to the other side of the village.
"Great. Let's do it," muttered Cedric, who didn't feel too well about it.
They spectated the battle while they waited for their cue. The Wall Wrecker and Queen Sophia had done well. After the Wallbreaker blew up the walls that were blocking the way, the Wall Wrecker destroyed the Wizard Tower while Queen Sophia shot at the Air Defence next to it. Right after the Wall Wrecker destroyed the Wizard Tower, it was targeted by the two X-Bows nearby. After destroying the Gold Storage, which is blocking the way, it didn't have a lot of hitpoints left. It managed to reach the wall just in front of the Goblin Town Hall before it was destroyed. Meanwhile, Queen Sophia was having some difficulties with the mortar next to the Air Defence since the Inferno Tower was doing some damage to her. Even though she activated her Royal Cloak ability, she was eventually stunned.
It turned out that the balloons and Electro Dragons were quite good. The balloons destroyed the four Eagle Artilleries quickly with the help of Rage Spell. The Electro Dragon targeted the Goblin Town Hall and destroyed it even before the balloons could destroy the artilleries.
It was now the bowlers' cue. They hit the Wizard Tower with boulders. Then, they moved on to the defences alongside the base and took them down with no problem. It was now time for the Barbarian King and Grand Warden to help the bowlers out. First, they deployed the Clone Spell on the bowlers. Several bowlers appeared out of nowhere. Then, King Albert and Cedric fought side by side. King Albert got some help from Wallbreakers to get into the defences. Meanwhile, Cedric did not feel too well. He felt as if his body was controlled by someone else.
He only attacked twice before he threw up on the battlefield. A deep voice was murmuring in his mind, "Join us. Join us. You have opened the Pandora's jar by attacking us. You have no choice but to oblige." Simultaneously, the defences stopped attacking him and changed targets. He took a deep breath or two to see if he could get better. The answer was a big no. The voice was still chanting in his mind.
A few moments later, he felt like he was throttled by someone. His mind told him to say, "Huzzah", but he knew better than to do so. It would cause huge consequences. Eventually, he could not resist it.
"HUZZAH!!!" he roared. A massive fireball flew out of his hands and straight towards the bowlers. The fireball bounced among the bowlers, killing one to two bowlers at every hit. When all the bowlers were down, the fireball bounced between King Albert.
"What...OW...are...OW...you...OW...doing...OW!" croaked King Albert.
"I...OW...don't...OW...wanna!" whined Cedric.
The voice in Cedric's mind whispered to him, "Goodbye! See you later!"
Chapter 1: The Arrival of the Grand Warden
"Do it," Barbarian King Albert told Charlie the Builder.
Charlie the Builder slowly placed the Grand Warden Altar, which is made beforehand, one tile next to the Army Camp. Then, he placed 6 million spherical flasks next to the altar, each flask containing 1 litre of elixir. Eventually, he stepped back and waited.
A few moments later, white mist appeared right above the altar. Then, a ray of blinding light shone from the mist and everyone turned around. They only dared to look back when a weak voice mumbled, "My...elixir..."
Charlie the Builder rushed to the Grand Warden, who was lying weakly on his altar, and uncapped one of the flasks. He handed it towards him as the villagers, who have been watching the whole event, knelt and shouted "Hail!" Barbarian King Albert and Archer Queen Sophia stepped forward and examined the weak Grand Warden, who was drinking his elixir at the speed of one litre per second. The other four builders are now also helped Charlie uncap the flasks and handing him the elixir.
A hubbub occurred in the kneeling crowd behind them. They had never seen anything like this before. Back then when King Albert and Queen Sophia arrived, they were all in good shape. They didn't know what to make of him.
As the Grand Warden drank more and more elixir, he got better and better. When he drank fifty flasks, he could sit up. When he drank one hundred flasks, he could uncap the flasks himself. When he drank two hundred flasks, he finally shouted "Bah!" and spat out some elixir. Meanwhile, the villagers behind them began to disperse.
"Are you ok?" asked Queen Sophia. "You look horrible."
The Grand Warden answered while he was drinking the three hundredth flask, "Fortunately, I don't have a mirror, because I must have looked horrible." He even managed a smirk.
When he drank five hundred flasks of elixir, he stood up shakily. The five builders, who were working as slaves, supported him, but the Grand Warden quickly fell back to his altar. When he eventually finished drinking all the elixir, he said," Drinking elixir keeps one's mind straight. You should all stop drinking dark elixir." He pointed at King Albert and Queen Sophia using his long wooden staff with a magical crystal held on top.
"Whatever," muttered Barbarian King Albert.
"What now?" asked the Grand Warden, whose name was Cedric.
"We go to sleep," replied Queen Sophia, "in our altars."
"I couldn't imagine spending a night on that hard, uncomfortable stone, but fine," answered Cedric the Grand Warden.
"If you REALLY mind sleeping, you can help defend the village," sighed King Albert.
"How can I help defend the village?" asked Cedric
"According to my friend Luke, the Grand Warden in his village turns into a stone statue when defending," replied King Albert.
"Luke?" asked Cedric.
"The king of the leader village of our clan. He is a friendly man," added Queen Sophia.
"We will meet in the town hall tomorrow at first light. Good night," said King Albert
Cedric said "Good night!" and turned to a stone statue as the king and queen go back to their own altars.
Cedric did not have a good night. The archers in the Army Camp used his eyeball as target practice. He would have been blinded if he did not use the Life Aura ability on himself. The next day at first light, he morphed from a stone statue to himself again and went to the Town Hall with his staff and Book of Everything. He didn't pull the arrows from his eyes on purpose to show Queen Sophia.
When he stepped into the Town Hall, he saw that King Albert sat in the very middle, with Queen Sophia sitting at his side. When King Albert saw him, he nearly fainted, but he still managed to shout, "Pull your arrows from your eyes!"
Cedric could not disobey a direct order from the king, so he pulled the arrows out of his eyes and let golden ichor flows down from his eyes.
"What happened to you? You look horrible!" exclaimed Queen Sophia.
"It was your archers! They shot my eyes as target practice! You should keep a close eye on your disrespectful archers!" Cedric bellowed so loudly that everyone in the town hall trembled.
"Calm...calm down, my dear," said King Albert, still trembling. "Take a seat." He pointed at a seat near him. Cedric sat down. A barbarian servant quickly filled a goblet in front of him with elixir.
"So, back to important business," began King Albert, "we should inform our Grand Warden what his job in the village will be..."
"I know what I am going to do," interrupted Cedric. "According to Chapter 225: Heroes of the Book of Everything, the Grand Warden of every village should check out the defences, except the Archer Towers, which is part of the Archer Queen's job, and help out the Barbarian King with clan affairs. Am I correct?"
"Perfect," said Queen Sophia. "You know your duty, and now we shall have a decent meal!" She clapped her hands twice and three archer servants served brunch to the three heroes. Cedric looked at what the servant put on his desk in front of him. It consisted of fried eggs, sausages, back bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, fried bread, and a slice of elixir-coloured pudding. He also looked at King Albert's brunch. It was the same as his, except that his slice of pudding was black. He guessed it was made of dark elixir instead of elixir.
They had a silent meal. The barbarian servant behind him kept on adding elixir into his goblet during the meal. When the meal was finished, he stood up, and said, "It's time I should start checking out the defences. Have a nice day!"
As he stepped out, he noticed the Builder Charlie was waiting for him. "What are you doing here? You should be in the Builder's Hut at this time!"
"King Albert had asked me to give you a tour around the village," replied Charlie. "Let's start, shall we?"
Charlie pointed west and Cedric turned to look. He saw an Archer Tower and the archers on top were taking turns having breakfast. Charlie walked along a narrow alleyway beside the Archer Tower and he followed.
"This is an X-Bow set to Ground and Air Mode," Charlie pointed at the turret in front of them. "It shoots at a high speed to both ground and air units at an 11 tile range."
Cedric nodded and the duo moved on to the Air Defence next to it. Charlie explained to him about the Air Defence. The duo walked around the village for half an hour or so until Cedric knew all defences in the village.
"I have to upgrade the Eagle Artillery now. See you later!" said Charlie, and he ran off to the Eagle Artillery at the speed of a goblin. Cedric had nothing to do, so he decided to go to the Clan Castle to help out with clan business.
When he pushed open the doors of the Clan Castle, he saw King Albert writing frantically on a piece of papyrus. He moved quietly behind the king and whispered into his ears, "What are you doing?"
King Albert's reaction is extremely funny. Cedric the Warden wished he could invent something to record his startled look. King Albert jumped out of his seat, and shouted, "That's rude, man!" Cedric shrugged and stood next to the king as he returned to his seat. It turned out that the Grand Warden of the leader village (Editor's note: In Clash-A-Rama: Lost in Donation, the one holding the meeting was the Grand Warden from the leader village) wanted to retire and give his leadership to someone else. King Albert was writing a letter to tell him about the disadvantages of doing so.
"Oh, I would like to run for it," said Cedric.
King Albert looked taken aback, stared at him for a moment or two, the finally said, "No. You are inexperienced."
Cedric muttered, "Fine", but he made a mental note that he would apply for it no matter what. He sat down next to King Albert and helped him with his paperwork. Once King Albert glanced at him suspiciously and asked him whether he was still trying to be the leader of the clan, but Cedric quickly denied.
They only stopped working when a barbarian servant came and reminded them to go to the Town Hall for dinner. "I want to get some work done. I will come at a flash."
Cedric's definition of a flash is quite different from others. First, he burnt King Albert's letter to the Grand Warden of the leader village. Then, he sketched another letter to apply for the leader of the clan. When he entered the Town Hall half an hour later, the king and queen were not pleased.
"What took you so long?" asked Queen Sophia grumpily.
"Sorry," said Cedric. "I forgot to check my Book of Everything for the time."
"Your Book of Everything can show the time?" asked King Albert, who seemed fascinated.
"Exactly," replied Cedric. "Even the Trader cannot make a Book of Everything that can show the time. They are only for Grand Wardens."
Cedric took his seat, and the three started to talk about what happened in the day as they ate. Queen Sophia shared that she had the archers who used Cedric as target practice heavily punished.
"Great," said Cedric. "There are not many villages that have law and order. It is detailedly written in the Book of Everything. According to Chapter 698: Infamous Villages..."
"Stop it," interrupted King Albert, "or I shall order you to make a handwritten copy of the Book of Everything to everyone in the village."
A conch horn blew, and a nervous villager went into the Town Hall and announced, "We are under attack!"
"Go back to your altars!" ordered King Albert "Now!"
King Albert and Queen Sophia quickly teleported to their own altars. Cedric followed.
