Editor Appreciation Giveaway - October 2023 Update Edition!

After over a year of hiatus, I am pleased to announce that we are reviving Editor Appreciation Giveaways to celebrate this new October update! A hearty thank you to all that have helped in editing this wiki. Without further ado, let's dive into the rules and details!

RULES AND GUIDELINES

Q1: What’s the prize on offer?

A1: The prize this time isn’t Gems, but instead we have two different prizes on offer:

3,000 Capital Gold, and

The Clan Capital Chess House Ground Part (see picture)!

So we will be drawing TWO winners this time!

Q2: What do I need to do to enter?

A2: Make at least ONE quality edit on the Wiki itself, OR on the Discussions board. Being helpful on either platform will qualify you. Replying to the "Fun and Games" board does not qualify you however, it must be answering someone's questions seriously.

You can also create/improve a strategy guide or an attack strategy of your ideas and strategies on the game.

Helpful minor things like removing commas on pages, filling in info, adding fill-in words, and such on articles also counts.

Q3: How will you know that it's me?!

A3: We know everything! Lol. Make sure to respond to this thread so we know who’s up for it! Entries for this giveaway will close on 23rd October, two weeks from the time of posting.

Once entries have been closed, a random draw will take place to select our lucky winners. Winners will be contacted privately to be given the opportunity to claim their rewards.

Remember to make some edits and let me know!

Note: The Clan House part may already have been owned by some of you. If you’d rather not win it for yourself and let someone else win it, do let us know in your reply to this thread. By default, everyone who enters will be eligible to win the Capital Gold.

Fan Art and Base Competition Winners!

Well, the time's come to announce the winners for the fan art and base competition that started earlier this month.

For the fan art competition - well, we only received a single submission all month, which we approved, so suffice to say that the only one to have submitted won by default. To that I present this piece by @Barbarian1412 which was, as I said, the only submission we got:

For the base competition - I apologise to all who were not on our wiki discord that I did not announce here the fact that we changed up one of the two prizes for the base competition for a quiz due to the lack of competition (we had only one submission before making this change). That said, we did get more than one entry for this competition, and I'd like to announce that this submission by milu (#3245 on Discord) came out on top for its aesthetic value:

I hereby extend my congratulations to the two winners, and thank everyone who showed their interest in these competitions by participating in them.

With that out of the way, as it is so often said around these parts, "Clash on!"

10th Anniversary Giveaways

Hey All!

As part of the 10th Anniversary, we doing some special giveaways. We have three events that are held over our Discord Server with five one-of-a-kind prizes to be won.

Base Building Competition

You can build these in any village (HV, BB, CC). Make it as creative as you want; can be artistic, or completely functional bases. These need to be original bases designed by YOU, not a screenshot off of the internet or another players base. Please keep them appropriate. The channel #basecomp can be used to post your photo and a description of your base if you so choose. The best two chosen by us will receive a prize!

Fan Art Competition

All you need are some crayons/markers, and a piece of paper. Get creative, have some fun! Want to make it with food? Go ahead? Are you good at photoshop? Try that! We want you to have fun with this. Your work must be original. DM a staff member over Discord with your picture to be entered into the drawing! We have one prize up for grabs in the event.

Quizzes

We are going to be hosting two different quizzes at two different times. These will entail a bunch of questions about the game. Be sure to follow our Discord for more info soon about when these will start. The winning participants of each quiz will receive a prize.

Refining Our Rules: Project Complete

Over the last few months the Staff have been developing new rules that are easier to follow, fair but flexible and relevant to the current software and policies of Fandom. With your feedback from previous posts, we are now happy to finally say the project is complete.

Rules are now split into different pages:

We have also tidied up guidelines regarding Strategy Guides and Attack Strategies, which can be found on their respective pages.

The Main Rules are an improved version of our current rules. It now includes a “Chart of Ban Times”- this was a new requirement made by Fandom. We are happy to hear discussion around this one as it is new and may need adjusting if people believe it is not fair or too soft.

The Editing Policy is completely new. It contains information on how to format articles and other smaller details that improve pages. As this is completely new, it is likely it will be added to as time passes. We are interested to hear feedback and suggestions on this one.

The Image Policy is an improvement on the previous “Image Naming Policy” page. We have made this page easier to find as we believe it was not accessible before.

We sincerely hope that this is an improvement on our previously outdated rules. This project aims to make the rules better, easier to find and bring them up-to-date with new Fandom policies. Again, any feedback is welcome. Clash On!

Community Project- Refining Our Rules Stage 2

A couple months ago we announced that we were planning on improving our wiki rules. Over the past couple months, the Staff Team has worked hard behind the scenes to create a draft of what our new rules may look like. We have ensured to make changes that you had suggested in the previous post, ensure they are up-to-date with Fandom’s latest policies and made various other improvements as necessary.

Before you find yourself reading our draft, I first want to tell you that at this point still nothing is final. This is your second chance to give us feedback on what we have already developed. Some things we would like you to consider when reading our draft:

Do you believe our “editing policy” covers everything it needs to? Is there something missing?
Do you believe there should be a syntax for naming personal images that may be used on user pages including those that are not Clash related? What about a new syntax for base screenshots?
The Table of Ban Times- this was requested by our Wiki Manager as part of Fandom’s new policies. Do you believe the consequences are fair?

Our draft consists of five sections to organize key ideas:

Main Policy (new version of this page)
Editing Policy
Image Policy (new version of this page)
Strategy Guides Policy (new version of this page)
Attack Strategies Policy (new version of this page)

Do note the aesthetic design of the new rules will likely be improved before completion. The layout you see here is far from final.

After we complete this project, our rules can always be improved later. Just because the project will be “complete” we will always seek to make improvements to our rules and are always happy to hear feedback.

Community Project- Refining Our Rules Stage 1

Here at the Clash of Clans Wiki, we aim to make our wiki a positive, engaging and fair site. Rules keep you, me and others safe online and ensure our wiki reaches its best potential.

With your help and as a community, we want to work together to refine our rules to keep the wiki up to standard and make sure you believe our rules are keeping you happy and safe. Our rules have not seen any major attention in a few years and we believe it is time to look at them.

Here are some goals we want to reach as part of this project:

Ensure our rules are up-to-date with the current Fandom software and do not use outdated terminology.

Add, alter or remove rules where we believe it is necessary, aiming for clarity and simplicity.
Make you aware of Fandom’s Terms of Service in our rules page
Make you aware of what we can and can’t do in accordance to the Fandom Blocking Policy

In Stage One of this project, we want to hear your suggestions and thoughts. Once everyone has had enough time to discuss ideas the staff team will create a draft with a mixture of ideas from our current rules, your thoughts, and our own. Ever had a burning question that the rules don’t answer? Tell Us! We want to fix that.

Please be civil in the comments. Everyone has a different opinion, and anything that is suggested will not necessarily be reflected in drafts.

Winter Fan Art Competition

Hey all, as 2021 comes to an end we have a special event which you can all participate in… the Christmas 2021 Fan Art Competition!

This competition was originally announced on Discord early December. However, no one has submitted anything yet so we've decided to announce it here too.

Criteria:

Fan Art pieces must be related to the game in some way and must not contain anything offensive or disturbing. They should be winter/Christmas themed. You can use any medium you like, such as paints, pencils, pastels or digital methods. Be creative!

Submissions:

To submit a piece, please DM your piece to one of our Staff Members for verification. This keeps your piece under wraps until voting day. OR

Submit your piece over the wiki on a Staff Member message wall.

Submissions will not be able to be made once voting day commences.

Voting:

Voting will take place on Discord. If we are able to, we will also setup a poll on the wiki but options here are more limiting. Voting day starts on Christmas Day (yes, very soon)! The winner will be announced on or shortly after the New Year.

Winner’s Prize:

The winner will have their piece added to the main page of the wiki. A tag will also be added to your user profile to signify this!
