Intermediate Clashers' Guide for Town Hall 6 to Town Hall 8

Attack Strategies

Dragon Warfare

Part 1

- This expensive but highly efficient attack strategy employs the use of dragons, wizards/barbarians and giants(optional).

- This is most useful for trophy pushers, with the aim of the strategy being to not collect resources but rack up a huge amount of damage and get plenty of trophies! Bear in mind, however, that this stategy can also be used to assure you being able to loot a large amount of resources, as few forces can stop the fiery breath of the invincible dragon and the skilled and effective wizards!

- The key troop(s) used in this attack strategy would obviously include dragons, plus a horde of barbarians, archers, or, if you can spare the elixir, wizards. Giants are optional and can be useful in taking out the large defenses like archer towers and mortars before the rest of the army moves in.

Note - For the rest of this document, town hall 7 is taken as the example for the attacking strategy. Please note that this stategy can be used by any town hall above 7, as they have unlocked the dragon in their barracks.

Dragon Warfare: The Basics

Troops Used- Dragons(lv.1 or higher), barbarians and/ or wizards(lv. 3 or higher.)
Army camp level Army camps at level 4 or higher are most ideal. The total amount of housing space available must be roughly 150 or higher.
Army camp consistence Five dragons(total housing space 100), with the rest filled up with barbarians, wizards, or both. Giants are optional, but if included remember that just one giant won't be enough. Have at least 5 of them.
Army camp percentage Two-thirds filled with dragons, and the remaining amount of housing space,(rough 60 spaces), can consist of about 15 wizards, or, if you opt for barbarians, 60 barbarians. If you want to combine them, have about 12 wizards, the rest being barbarians. there is and advantage to this as you will find out later.
Spells 1 healing spell(lv. 2 or higher) and 2 rage spells(any level). If you haven't unlocked the rage spell yet, simply use healing spells. Note - this is the measurement for a lv. 3 spell factory. It can be higher or lower than that. Keep a ratio of 2:1 in favour of rage spell.
Approximate elixir/dark elixir cost 100000 elixir. Less than that if you use a majority of barbarians,
Approximate resources gained from strayegy 2.5 hundred thousand gold and elixir each.
Most useful for Trophy pushers(players who want to get more trophies and climb to higher leagues), rather than farmers.
Key Stategies Used Meat shields, flank attacks, aerial storm
Alternate options Use goblins, archers or giants.(Explained below.)

Attack stategy

  • The best villages to attack in this format would be villages that are at your level or slightly above. Don't waste your troops on lower town halls for a few trophies, unless there is plenty of loot for you to steal!
  • Check the amount of available loot. As you may have noticed, this stategy can be expensive and time- costly. Therefore, make every bit of elixir and gold count!( If you are at town hall 7, this strategy may use about 100000 elixir, and take about one hour to train. Thus, only attack villages with at least double the elixir you uused for the army, if you want to get back spent elixir.
  • Defense is not that big of a problem with thjis attack strategy. The dragons are heavy-hitters, and can take quite some damage. Also, remember that the dragon is a flying unit, so bombs, spring traps, bomb towers, cannons and mortars can't target it!
  • Once you've chosen the village, prepare the attack...

Part 2 - Raiding with Dragons

Attacking, like any Clash of Clans player would know, is much more than just good troops. Skill and strategical thinking plays a big role in it too! Since your army includes some of the strongest of elixir troops, earning a victory should be no problem!

Attacking

  1. Once your village has been chosen, minimize the screen so that you can see your opponent's entire village. Take a few moments to identify weak spots, note where the archer towers and cannons are targeted towards, and identify the position of the clan castle and town hall.
  • Attention! Before deploying any troops, look at the level of your opponent's clan(if any.) Normally, clans above level 10 always donate maxed out troops ranging from level nine wizards to level seven dragons, so it is advised to take out any defending troops before moving in.
  • A very popular clan castle defense would be a level seven dragon. A maxed out dragon can take out hordes of wizards, giants and barbarians, so make sure your attack strategy won't be played against you!

   2. Deploy one barbarian or wizard as close to the clan castle as close to the clan castle as possible to draw out any defending clan castle troops. Once defending troops appear(if any) take them out with wizards or barbarians deployed in an arc pattern.

   3. Use Lightning and Earthquake spell, if you have them. Use these spells to take out archer towers and air defenses, so the dragons can move in and make short work of everything. Then, deploy a few troops at places where you think their would be traps, to make it easier for the rest of your army.

  4. Now seat deploying your troops, use a couple of barbarians or wizards to take out builders' huts in the corners. And then deploy your dragons in an arc on the side with less defense or more resources. Try to deploy them as close to defenses as possible, so they can take out archer towers and air defenses as soon as possible, so that they won't lose a lot of HP.

    5. Spawn wizards/ barbarians  behind your dragons and immediately drop a rage spell on them, so they'll make short work or buildings outside your opponent's village. You would not need to worry much about archer towers or wizard towers as they will most likely target the dragons.

    6. Deploy the Barbarian King(if you have him.) If so, it is advised to deploy him in front of the barbarians or wizards so that he can shield them from mortars and cannons. If you have giants, use them in the same fashion, as meat shields.

   7. Prepare your healing spells. Wait until your troops are gathered together in one place to maximise its use. Note that since dragons have high HP, they won't need healing until they get to like the centre of the village. Your wizards and barbarians would benefit more from it. If you've stocked two rage spells, drop the second one on the group of dragons.

  • Deploy the dragons in an arc, so that splash-dmamge dealing defenses like wizard towers can't pick all of them out.

Note that wizards, while doing high damage, have relatively low HP. Therefore deploy them after the external defenses are gone, or keep a healing spell handy.

   8. Sit back and enjoy your opponent's crushing defeat!
