Summary
- The Baby Dragon is the sixth Builder Base Troop unlocked in the Builder Barracks once it has been upgraded to level 6. He is a powerful flying unit and the Builder Base version of the Baby Dragon from the Home Village.
- The Baby Dragon has two abilities in the Builder Base: Tantrum and Fiery Sneeze.
- The Tantrum ability is passive, and boosts the Baby Dragon's damage and attack speed when he is separated from other air units by a distance of at least 4.5 tiles.
- The Fiery Sneeze ability can be used once per battle. When activated, the Baby Dragon spews flames that damage a large area in front of him. The damage dealt by the Fiery Sneeze can be boosted by Tantrum.
- Compared to his Home Village counterpart, he moves slightly faster but has a slightly shorter range.
Strategy
Offensive Strategy
- Try to destroy or avoid Air Bombs/Mega Teslas as they deal the most damage to Baby Dragons.
- Try to destroy Firecrackers that are sniping at your Baby Dragons from afar.
- Keep the Baby Dragons apart so their Tantrum ability will be activated and deal extra damage.
- It is a good idea to use a mass Baby Dragon attack as they have many different uses. You may find it useful to hold some of your Baby Dragons in reserve during the attack so that the ones currently on the battlefield can easily utilize their Tantrum ability. Then, once these Baby Dragons start to die out, you can deploy the Baby Dragons in reserve to replace the ones you lost.
- Baby Dragons are great tanks for Beta Minions, allowing them to be on the field for longer when they would otherwise be wiped out, even if this means their Tantrum ability can no longer activate.
- The Baby Dragon can hit two buildings/Walls at once. However, like most troops with splash damage, he typically aims for the center and this will only rarely happen if he targets a Guard Post troop that happens to walk by a building. The damage delivered in one or two hits may not be significant, but can prove incredibly helpful if the building is low on health and can't be easily attacked further.
- If you have the Battle Machine, you can use it to shield Baby Dragons from Archer Towers and Hidden Teslas. However, note that the Battle Machine may not be able to hold its own against other ground defenses such as Double Cannons and Crushers, which still needs to be taken out otherwise.
- You can use Baby Dragons to destroy Crushers and other ground-attacking defenses to give way for your ground troops, and, if possible, the Battle Machine. Once all the threatening defenses are down the ground troops can demolish the AA defenses and allow the rest of your Baby Dragons to take the base by storm.
- While this may not be immediately obvious, lone Baby Dragons can decimate any defense one-on-one at full health if they are at relative levels.
- His Fiery Sneeze ability can be useful for taking out Zappies in the O.T.T.O's Outpost as the damage one-shots them and won't interfere with other troops.
- The Cannon Cart in Mortar Mode can provide great value with the Baby Dragons, so that the former will snipe important defenses such as the Air Bombs and the Mega Tesla, the Baby Dragons will have a huge advantage to clear out the rest of the base, allowing their abilities to be conserved for the second base.
- However, this process is slow, and the attacker may run out of time if they do not perform the attack fast enough, especially because of the slow fire rate of the Mortar Mode.
Defensive Strategy
- On defense, protect your Firecrackers and Air Bombs to prevent them from being taken out using other distraction buildings.
- Archer Towers set to fast attack mode are as powerful as Firecrackers when it comes to defending against Baby Dragons.
- Air Bombs are the Baby Dragon's arch-nemesis since they can not only deal devastating splash damage but also hard and comes in with an endless supply against it.
- A Mega Mine set to Air can deal heavy damage to multiple Baby Dragons.
- Mega Teslas are very powerful against Baby Dragons. Try to place splash damage defenses like Roasters and Air Bombs near it so that the Mega Tesla does not get distracted by smaller troops like Bats.
Upgrade Differences
The Baby Dragon undergoes significant visual changes at levels 8, 12, 16.
- Initially, he appears as a small lime green Dragon with the spikes and tips of his wings being orange. His hands and feet are a dark orange that fades back into the body.
- At level 8, his wings turn yellow.
- At level 12, his wings and tongue turn pink, and he gains golden bracelets on each wrist.
- At level 16, his wings turn blue and his tongue turns purple.
- At level 20, his bracelets grow bigger, and his legs get a golden accent. His hind legs also receive a golden coating of armour.
