Summary
- The Blacksmith is a building unlocked at Town Hall level 8. It is used to unlock and upgrade Hero Equipment, which are items used by Heroes to determine their abilities.
- Upgrading the Blacksmith enables Hero Equipment to be upgraded to higher levels, and may unlock new Hero Equipment to use. Such upgrades also increase the total amount of Ore the player can hold at any one time.
About Hero Equipment
- Hero Equipment is used to determine a Hero's abilities. Each piece of Hero Equipment confers a unique ability to a Hero. For example, the Barbarian Puppet allows the Barbarian King to summon Barbarians when he uses his ability.
- Beyond the abilities bestowed by the Hero Equipment, almost all pieces of Hero Equipment provide passive bonuses to the Hero's stats, which may range from hitpoint or damage increases to granting a small amount of healing over time mid-attack.
- Each Hero equips two pieces of Hero Equipment at a time whenever used on attack. Heroes do not use Hero Equipment when defending.
- The Hero will always have an active ability available, even if they equip two pieces of Hero Equipment with passive abilities. If this is done, the active ability will solely consist of health regeneration based on their health recovery stat.
- The types of Hero Equipment in terms of ability usage are Passive and Active.
- Equipments with passive abilities apply their abilities without needing to use the active ability, such as the Vampstache and the Frozen Arrow, whereas those with active abilities require the hero to activate their ability during an attack, with the examples being the Rage Vial and the Invisibility Vial.
- Hero Equipment themselves are divided into two rarities: Common and Epic.
- Common Hero Equipment is easily accessible, either already unlocked by default or unlocked by upgrading the Blacksmith.
- Epic Hero Equipment is less accessible and is only unlocked through certain special Events, or through the Trader once said Events have been completed. Epic equipment is generally more powerful, boasting a higher level cap than Common equipment.
- Hero Equipment is upgraded with Ores, a set of currencies used exclusively for the Blacksmith. Upgrades in the Blacksmith are instantaneous, so once the requisite Ore is obtained or otherwise purchased, Hero Equipment can be readily upgraded.
Upgrade Differences
The Blacksmith undergoes significant visual changes at levels 3 and 9.
- When initially constructed, the Blacksmith comprises of a hut with wooden pillars and a light sea green roof, and an anvil placed outside, with stone decorations connecting the two. The hut contains a furnace within, with a hammer visible on the exterior.
- At level 3, the roof gains some stone fastenings on the corners of the flat section. A chest is added outside the hut, and the anvil's corners are reinforced.
- At level 5, a metal plate is affixed to one slanted part of the roof. The chimney is extended with a pot, while the hammer has been replaced by a larger, darker hammer.
- At level 7, the flat section of the roof is reinforced with metal bars connecting pairs of the fastenings. The anvil has been replaced by a larger one, and the stone decorations have also changed to match. The chest has also been reinforced at its base.
- At level 9, the metal bars added at level 7 have now been changed to a brass color. The stones jutting out of the chimney walls have been replaced with larger ones, while the pot also changes color, as do the sides of the anvil. The chest has been completely replaced with a new one.

Trivia
- The Blacksmith is the only building in the Home Village not to have upgrade differences at certain levels. However, it is not the only structure in the entire game where this is the case:
- The Lava Launcher in the Builder Base has no upgrade differences at certain levels.
- The Super Dragon Post in the Clan Capital has no upgrade differences between levels 4 and 5, possibly due to a bug.
- The Elixir Collector formerly had no upgrade differences between levels 1 and 2 due to a bug.
- Traps in the Home Village only gain upgrade differences at every other level.
- The Blacksmith is immune to spell damage. [1]
- This might be the case because it is technically a storage for ore, as is the case for all other storages, despite them cannot be looted.
