Builder | Battle Builder |
Summary
- Builders are the workers that live inside the Builder's Hut.
- They can upgrade and build structures, as well as upgrade your Heroes.
- They can also craft Capital Gold in the forge.
- You do not need a Builder to add decorations or traps, but you need a Builder to upgrade Walls.
- Builders are also used to remove Obstacles.
- Only one Builder can work on a building at a time, and likewise each builder can only work on one building at a time.
- Clicking on the Builder icon shows what upgrades they're currently doing, and also shows a selection of suggested builds and upgrades. Clicking on an upgrade shows the location of the structure (or if there are more than one of the same suggested upgrade available, the location of one of said structure; repeatedly clicking on the upgrade cycles between all such structures in this case).
- If you tap the “+" icon on the Builder interface, you will be taken to the shop, where you can then purchase Builder's Huts. However, this does not appear if you already have all 5 Builder's Huts.
Battle Builder
- Once the Town Hall is upgraded to level 14, the Builder's Hut can be upgraded to add a short-range turret that fires at enemies. When this is done, the corresponding Builder will assume the role of Battle Builder, where he will repair nearby buildings during battle.
- The Builder will repair any buildings that become damaged during the battle while his Builder's Hut is intact; once he starts repairing a building, he will continue repairing that building until it is either fully repaired or destroyed.
- He is not considered a defensive troop in that attacking units cannot attack or damage him. However, he may be affected by Spells:
- A defensive Rage Spell, whether dropped by a Spell Tower or by a defending Super Valkyrie, will increase the amount of health he repairs with every hit and makes him move faster;
- An attacker's Poison Spell slows his rate of repair;
- An attacker's Freeze Spell stops him from repairing at all;
- An attacker's Lightning Spell will stun him briefly and force him to re-target;
- An Invisibility Spell (whether dropped by a Spell Tower or by an attacker) will make buildings around him invisible, preventing him from repairing affected buildings.
- The Builder cannot repair Walls or any buildings that are completely destroyed. If his Builder's Hut is destroyed, he will retreat into the bunker hidden underneath and take no further part in the battle.
- If multiple Builders are repairing the same building, their total repair per second will be slightly less than all the Builders' individual repair output combined, just like how multiple Healers on a single-target have their healing output reduced. This effect is somewhat subtle even in the extreme scenario (for example, 5 Builders from maxed Builder's Huts will combine for a total of approximately 264 repair per second, or approximately a 12% loss).
- If a Battle Builder is working on a building (or hero), he will start the battle working on that building, and will have to run to his hut before he can start repairing things. He will not repair buildings along the way, not even the building that he was working on if that's out of range of his hut. This only holds true in Multiplayer Battles outside of Legend League, as in other scenarios (Clan Wars, Friendly Challenges, Legend League), the building will not appear upgraded.
Tips
- Always use your Gems on Builders first rather than resources or finishing an upgrade. Be patient.
- Putting your Builders on the corners of your base may slow down the attacker and let you have a better chance of winning. However, it also allows them to be destroyed with single troops (if your attacker remembers to look for them), which may make the difference between a 50% victory and a 49% loss. They can also help experienced players lure your Clan Castle defense troops to the corner to finish them off.
- If you have Battle Builders unlocked, this reduces their efficiency and is not suggested, as they will not be able to partake in repairing buildings such as important defenses or resource storages; their weaponized Builder's Hut is also vulnerable and easy to destroy.
Appearance
- The Builder is a stout man with blue eyes, appears bald, and has a nose as big as his eyes. He wears a yellow-brown aviator hat (similar to the Wall Breaker's hat), brown leathery pants and orange shoes, and wields a stone hammer.
- When participating in battle as a Battle Builder, he wears silver chain mail covering his head and upper arms.
History
Patch | Description |
---|---|
August 2, 2012 | Builders were in the original release of the game. |
August 30, 2012 | Changed the Builder's icon from this to this. |
March 21, 2016 | Added the Builder suggestions list |
August 4, 2017 | The Builders appeared to have left the Home Village, leaving a note on their Builder's Huts. Supercell released this video to explain why the Builders left. Their role was first replaced by Barbarians to represent the Battle Ram in the Battle Ram Event; even the Builder icon changed to reflect this. It ended on August 11, 2017, and the Barbarians were replaced by Giants. |
August 11, 2017 | The Barbarians were replaced by the Giant in their work, again causing the Builder icon to change. In addition to this, when the Builder's Huts were destroyed, defensive Giants came out. This feature of the Builder Huts was then removed a week later once the Giants had been replaced by Witches. The Giants, if there were no ground units to attack, would run around in circles around their Builder Huts. |
August 18, 2017 | The Giants were replaced by the Witch, as they represented their creation, the Shrink Trap. This again caused the Builder icon to change. A week later, the Witches were then replaced by the Wizards. |
August 25, 2017 | The Witches were replaced by the Wizard to represent their creation, the Birthday Boom. Yet again, the Builder icon was changed to reflect this. |
August 31, 2017 | The regular Builders finally returned on August 31, 2017, however the creations showcased by these troops (except for the Witch's Shrink Trap) would become available once more until September 7, 2017. Supercell released this video to explain the Builder's return. The video shows a Wizard building a "Goblin Cannon" as Wizards were the last substitute for Builders. |
April 12, 2021 | Builders can defend the village by upgrading their huts once the players reaches to Town Hall level 14. |
Trivia
- When a Builder is inactive, three small z's will appear from the roof of his house after regular time intervals, signalling that the Builder is resting and is available to be assigned to an upgrade.
- When the Builder is running, it moves as fast as a Goblin, and when walking, it moves as fast as a Barbarian.
- The Builder does not always go to the same Builder's Hut it came out of.
- In Clash Royale commercials, Builders can be seen in a stadium, along with Villagers.
- If the player picks up an inactive Builder's Hut, a Builder will be seen lying down on the spot where the hut used to be with his hammer on his chest (but not actually sleeping). In older versions, the Builder was not seen lying down when the hut is moved; instead, there was be a dark spot of the Builder's shadow.
- Two Builders can be seen in the Fort Knobs village in Single Player Campaign.
- If a Builder's Hut is placed on another building, and you go to Village Edit Mode before it moves automatically, then hit edit on your active village, then hit cancel, then exit edit mode, the Builder will appear to sleep outside of its hut.
- Although Builders always grin, the maintenance break image shows one Builder with his mouth closed.
- The appearance of the Builder is similar to that of a Miner.
- When a raid begins, either by placing a troop in the map of an enemy Village or when 3 minutes are remaining of an attack, the Builders will rush from their huts to hide inside the Town Hall alongside the Villagers. They will disappear upon reaching the Town Hall, even if it is destroyed.
- There's a rare chance that if a player clicks next in multiplayer, the “upgrade complete” sound directly plays when the Builder has finished upgrading whatever the building has been upgraded.
- Because of the similarity between the hats worn by Builders and Wall Breakers, one can assume that the Wall Breakers are fallen Builders and serve the opposite purpose.
- If you had 5 Builders working 24/7, then the total time to max out all buildings are 2 years, 308 days, 2 hours, 5 minutes, and 28 seconds.
- A Builder has a high chance in Clash-O-Ween 2023 to stare at the player or have his head spin around his body. If the builder is inactive and his hut is moved, there is a chance for one of the animations to repeatedly play while the builder is inside the hut .
