Summary
- The Elixir Storage allows you to save your hard-earned Elixir so that you can use it for future upgrades.
- The amount of Elixir an attacker may loot depends on the defender's Town Hall level (See Percent Lootable by Town Hall Level below).
- When your Elixir Storages are full, any Elixir gained from raids will not go into your Elixir Storage but will count to the total amount of loot stolen from the player. It will also count toward the Elixir Escapade Achievement.
- Elixir Storages are still fully functional while being upgraded.
- Upgrading your Elixir Storage to a higher level than you require for storage purposes can potentially save Elixir in a raid. As an attacker receives an amount of Elixir proportional to the percentage of damage each hit causes, the higher health of the upgraded building results in less Elixir per hit. It also takes longer to destroy, giving you more time for your defenses to destroy the attacker before they can steal all the available Elixir.
- The Elixir Storage is the counterpart of the Gold Storage, and vice versa.
- Although it stores Elixir, it is upgraded with Gold.
Upgrade Differences
The Elixir Storage undergoes significant visual changes at levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, 12, 13, and 14.
- When initially constructed, the Elixir Storage appears as a glass ball with a cork.
- At levels 2 to 4, one more glass ball is added at each level until there are four of them.
- At level 5, instead of adding a fifth glass ball, they are replaced by a single large one. The cork is still on it, but is scaled so that it has the proper size needed.
- At levels 6 to 8, the already massive glass ball grows continuously larger and larger. The direction of the cork alters at level 7.
- At level 9, the two wooden support stakes are removed in favor of four golden yellow footings. The cork is also replaced by a grey metal spigot near the base of the vessel.
- At level 10, the four footings receive spiked armor plating on each corner.
- At level 11, the glass ball gains a spiked metal band around the waist of the vessel.
- At level 12, it gains large stone footings, parts of the spigot are lined with gold, and a large hole is cut in the top, similar to the Dark Elixir Storage, except it is a circle instead of a square.
- At level 13, like the Gold Storages, all the spikes of the footings are removed and replaced by a large spike on each footing. The large hole on top is lined with a dark gray color and changes to a square like shape. The spigot now also turns dark gray.
- At level 14, the footings get coated with a Dark Elixir-like material. The spigot and the metal band grow bigger.
- At level 15, the footings of the storage lose the cyan spikes and the large dark blue colored supports and gain a large, dark gray metal-like support with gold platings and linings on it. On the spherical vessel, it loses the white metal ring, and gains a thinner, darker, smaller ring with a gold piece, and a small green one as well, at the end of the incomplete ring.
- At level 16, the footings are reinforced with thicker indigo frames with gold plating on top. On the glass ball, a thicker metal ring is added with gold upside-down equilateral triangles and patterns next to them on both sides. The hole on top of the ball changes into a triangle encased with thick golden plates.
- At level 17, the footings are now made out of black metal at the bottom with two studs each, red wood at the middle, and the topmost are made out of reinforced golden plates, with three spikes each. The metal ring around the bottom of the glass ball is now stone with spikes at the center, golden linings, and a red wood lining at the top. At the top of the spherical vessel, the hole is similar to the shape when it was at level 12, except slightly darker and more reinforced.
- At level 18, the footings of the storage change, as the entire bottom part become dark gray with two layers, reinforced by three metal guards and gain dark steel blue eagle wings at the top for each footing. The metal ring around the glass ball becomes slightly thicker, gaining a middle layer of black inside, and the red lining changes to a black color. At the top of the spherical vessel, the ring is now made of dark metal and has small blue Eagle wings on each side, and gains a bottom layer made of gold, with squares holding the wings.

Trivia
- The word "Elixir" comes from "al iksir", which is the Arabic word for miracle substances. Dating back to the 3rd century BC, Elixir was rumored to change base metals into gold and prolong life indefinitely.
- Troops running from the Barracks to Army Camps that pass behind a storage will be seen as a silhouette as they pass behind.
- However, this only happens if the Elixir Storages are upgraded to level 5 or higher and are more than halfway full.
- The level 9 storage tank seems to be "floating" on its supports.
- It is possible to overflow the Elixir Storage, but only by purchasing special resource packs found in the shop for real money or receiving extra Elixir from the Season Bank. If this is done, any excess Elixir will remain in the storage, and until the excess is removed (either by spending the Elixir or being raided), any Elixir earned from raids will be lost, just as, if the Elixir Storage was full.
Comparisons
- The Elixir Storage and Gold Storage are the resource buildings to have the highest levels, being 16.
- The Elixir Storage, Dark Elixir Drill and Dark Elixir Storage are the only resource buildings in the Home Village that do not appear in a loading screen.
- The Elixir Storage and the Elixir Collector are the only resource-related buildings to appear in Clash Royale.
- The Elixir Storage appears in Clash Royale, but only in a special game mode (it does not appear otherwise).
- For the Home Village version, see Elixir Storage/Home Village.
