Level 4
Summary
- The Furnace is the twelfth and currently the last Dark Elixir troop that is unlocked when the Dark Barracks is upgraded to level 12, which requires Town Hall 15.
- When deployed, it stays still, summoning Firemites which deal splash damage to any Buildings, dealing damage over time. It lasts for one minute, where it would be destroyed after its timer is up or by defenses and will not deploy the remaining troops, much like the Siege Barracks.
- Firemites' spawn rate is based on a time interval and not health. If defenses or traps damage the Furnace, it can potentially lose out on unit spawned, just like the Siege Barracks. Typically, if the Furnace remains untouched, it will spawn all of its Firemites while having a little under 10% of its hitpoints remaining as a buffer.
- The Furnace can be healed, but not by a Healer or Unicorn (neither will attempt to target it). Since the Troop Launcher also carries Healer AI, it will not target Furnaces either.
- If there are no targets for Firemites, the Furnace will keep spawning anyway with the Firemites standing still.
- On defense, the Furnace will spawn Firemites at the usual rate, but it will pause its spawning of Firemites if there are no attacking troops available on the field to prevent wasting them. It will still undergo its decay when this happens, thus it is possible that Furnaces may spawn fewer Firemites overall even if undamaged.
Strategies
Offensive Strategies
- Placing the Furnace in a corner can help funnel troops into the core, similar to troops like Baby Dragon, Dragon Rider, or Flame Flinger. Be careful of Hidden Teslas, though, as they will damage them significantly.
Defensive Strategies
- If a Furnace is deployed in the corner of the base, a Hidden Tesla can repeatedly zap it, surprising the opponent and significantly reducing the Furnace's combat lifespan.
- Furnaces can make great Clan Castle troops, helping to support the other troops defending the village from attackers. Since the Furnace is stationary and does not move, it will remain at the Clan Castle while it spawns Firemites to pursue attacking troops and Heroes. As Furnaces can spawn multiple Firemites, they can deal burning damage to attacking troops, draining their health and distracting them at the same time continously, effectively preventing the player from being able to take out defenses and forcing them to take out one Firemite after another.
- Additionally, the Firemite's damage over time can easily wipe out groups of small units, and may also take out Healers if the opponent messes up in a Queen Charge or a Warden Walk.
Upgrade Differences
The Furnace undergoes minor visual changes at all levels.
- Initially, the Furnace is a cubic, metal blast furnace with burning coal on the inside, which is protected by a grate-like door at the front, and has a cauldron on top, which is filled with lava. It has one metal ring on each side and has stone slabs at the bottom, as well as a wooden platform with wheels and wooden planks on each side reinforced by small metal plates.
- At level 2, the Furnace gains golden spikes at the top corners of the blast furnace.
- At level 3, the Furnace's lava inside the cauldron begins to spike up.
- At level 4, the Furnace's metal rings become golden.

Trivia
General
- You can have a maximum of 18 Furnaces at one time in a complete set of fully upgraded Army Camps. This number increases to 21 if you include 3 that can fit into a fully upgraded Clan Castle. On the battlefield, you can clone an additional 8 Furnaces with four level 7 or higher Clone Spells (three from the regular spell inventory and one from a level 10 or higher Clan Castle). These total to a maximum of 29 Furnaces.
- The Furnace temporarily has training time despite training time removal is another feature coming to the same update. It is slightly delayed to allow snapshot bases to be generated so search time will not be excessively long in the beginning.
- Hitpoint-increasing effects like from the Life Gem will extend the Furnace's lifetime, just like with most other units, since hitpoint decay per second is fixed. The max-level Life Gem is enough to give it about 50% of its HP, which would correspond to a lifetime extension of 50%.
Comparisons
- The Furnace is comparable to a troop version of the Flame Flinger, both capable of dealing splash damage and have damage over time effect, but does not deal damage alone, except for its Firemites, that target anything.
- Additionally, the Firemites can also target and damage aerial units.
- So far, the Furnace is the only troop in the game that is immobile, not counting Siege Machines like the Siege Barracks and the Troop Launcher.
- Unlike these Siege Machines, it will be affected by Spells, like being healed by Healing Spells to extend its lifetime for example.
- Despite the Furnace is immobile, it can be seen "walking" or "moving" to the Clan Castle after being donated.
- When donated or trained, the Furnace moves by wheels at a very slow speed, although it does not move in battle.
- The Furnace is one of two troops that occupies 18 housing space, the other being the Yeti.
