This series of pages will provide a list of common terms in Clash of Clans along with definitions.

A

Abandoned Base

An abandoned base or village is one whose owner has neglected to log into Clash of Clans for an extended period of time. It is characterized by many uncollected resources, empty storages, unarmed traps, depleted defenses and multiple tombstones from previous attacks. Many abandoned bases are players who have quit the game entirely.

Ability

A special power exhibited by Heroes and Builder Base Troops when they are sufficiently upgraded, and by various Super Troops, Clan Capital Troops and Temporary Troops. They vary depending on the troop type and may do anything from temporarily increasing a unit's damage output to making a unit invisible.

Achievement

Found in most modern video games, an achievement is a meta-goal defined outside of a game's parameters, typically an in-game task available to be completed by players. Successfully completing these tasks entitles the player to an in-game reward of experience and gems. Easier achievements typically have lower rewards, while more difficult achievements can have substantial rewards.

Admin

See Administrator.

Administrator

Administrators are the monitors and enforcers of the wiki. They have many powers that are unavailable to normal users such as deleting pages, editing and deleting page comments, and banning users. They are responsible for keeping the wiki running smoothly without disruption. Although not required by Wikia, all Bureaucrats on the Clash of Clans Wiki are also administrators.

AI

Air Bomb

The first aerial trap unlocked in the Home Village. Once triggered, it causes moderate damage to all air units in a small radius.

Air Bombs

An aerial defense in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that launches balloons carrying explosives similar to how the Air Bomb in the Home Village works.

Air Defense

A defensive building in the Home Village and Clan Capital that targets only air units. Has good range, very high DPS and an average attack rate (slower in the Clan Capital). Sometimes the term 'air defense' is used to generically describe all defensive buildings that are able to attack air units, but the Air Defense itself is generally the most powerful of these.

Air Mine

Generally used to refer to the Air Bomb, but it is also (less often) used to refer to the Seeking Air Mine.

Air Sweeper

A defensive building in the Home Village that targets only air units similar to the Air Defense but uses gusts of air to push back troops, dealing no damage whatsoever. It is only able to aim in one general direction at any one time, so air troops attacking from a side it does not cover will not be affected by it.

Air Troop

Air troops are Troops that have the ability to fly. In game terms, they are unimpeded by Walls and can be targeted by Aerial Defenses and other anti-air units. Troops and Defenses that can only attack ground troops (such as Cannons and Mortars) cannot attack them.

Air Unit

See Air Troop.

Airship

The main means of travel between the Home Village and Clan Capital. It is unlocked once the player has reached Town Hall level 6 and requires their Clan to be at least level 2.

Altar

An Altar is the anchor point for a hero, and it defines the hero's patrol area. Each hero has a corresponding Altar; the hero is automatically summoned when its Altar is first constructed/rebuilt. When damaged in combat, the hero will regenerate his/her hit points while sleeping on top of the Altar. Although it has no offensive or defensive capabilities (with the exception of the Grand Warden Altar), the Altar must be destroyed for an attacker to achieve three Stars. Destroying the Altar has no effect on the hero.

Anti 3-Star

A Layout designed to prevent 3-star victories (with little priority on preventing 2 stars or less). Occasionally seen in Clan Wars, this type of layout can neglect positioning of the Town Hall by placing it in an off-center position or even outside the walls of the War Base.

Anti-Air

Refers to every entity that can attack air troops. All buildings, troops, traps and spells that can damage or destroy air troops are included in this category.

Archer

A ground-based, ranged unit in the Home Village that has low HP and low DPS. Archers can attack both air and ground troops.
It can also refer to the Sneaky Archer or Super Archer, depending on the context.

Archer Queen

A ground-based, ranged Hero unit in the Home Village that has moderately high HP and very high DPS. She can attack both air and ground troops.

Archer Queen Altar

The place where the Archer Queen can be found either on or near when she isn't engaged in battle. See Altar.

Archer Tower

A defensive building present in both the Home Village and Builder Base that targets both ground and air units. Has good range, average DPS, and a fast attack rate. In the Builder Base or when geared up, it can be toggled to have twice the attack rate at the expense of range.

Army Camp

Place where your troops go when they're done training.

Artificial Intelligence

A computer system's ability to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, and decision making.

Artillery

Depending on the context, may refer to either the Rocket Artillery, or less commonly the Eagle Artillery.

Attack Challenge

An Event taking the form of a single-player level that can be attacked in a similar fashion to Practice Mode levels, with a fixed army and unlimited attempts for the duration of the event. Most such challenges showcase new content added in an update, or re-enact a top player's attack.

Attack Rate

The frequency that a unit or structure attacks, usually expressed in seconds.

Attack Strategy

A method of attacking in order to achieve a specific goal, usually farming, trophies, or both. An attack strategy consists of a specific complement of troops and spells, and a step-by-step guide to deploying those units in the most effective way.

B

Baby Dragon

An air unit that appears in both the Home Village and Builder Base. It has moderate health but low damage, with a special perk: when no other air units are nearby, it will be enraged, dealing extra damage.

Balloon

A slow moving, flying unit in the Home Village that drops bombs for high-DPS splash damage.
The term can also refer to the Rocket Balloon, depending on the context.

Balloon Lagoon

The fourth district unlocked in the Clan Capital. It contains the Flying Fortress Yard, which is used to unlock and upgrade the Flying Fortress.

Balloonion

An attack strategy that makes use of a combination of Balloon and Minion units.

BAM

An attack strategy that makes use of a combination of Barbarian, Archer and Minion units.

Barb

See Barbarian.

Barbarian

A ground-based, melee unit in the Home Village and Clan Capital that has average HP and average DPS.
The term can also refer to the Raged Barbarian or Super Barbarian, depending on the context.

Barbarian Camp

The second District unlocked in the Clan Capital. It contains numerous army-related buildings, and has the lowest Capital Hall requirements to upgrade.

Barbarian King

A ground-based, melee Hero unit in the Home Village that has extremely high HP and high DPS. See Hero for more details.

Barbarian King Altar

The place where the Barbarian King can be found either on or near when he isn't engaged in battle. See Altar.

Barch

An attack strategy that makes use of a combination of Barbarians and Archers.

Barracks

A building in the Home Village that allows you to train Elixir troops.
The term can also be used to refer to any or all such buildings with the ability to train troops i.e. this building, the Dark Barracks and/or the Builder Barracks.

Base

This term can refer to the Home Village, the War Base or Builder Base.

Bat

A Subtroop spawned by the Night Witch. It is akin to a Skeleton, having low damage and low hitpoints, however it flies much faster than any other troop in either the Home Village or Builder Base.

Bat Bomb

Multiple Bat Spells at the same location, usually on the outside of the base or on top of key defenses, with the aim of overwhelming nearby defenses with the spawned Bats.

Bat Spell

A Dark Elixir spell that spawns Bats that are fast flying units that target defenses.

Battle Blimp

A Siege Machine that flies towards the Town Hall, dropping bombs to everything in its path. When it reaches the Town Hall, it will release the Clan Castle troops inside.

Battle Drill

A Siege Machine that drills underground to reach defenses, stunning them on initial impact. Like the Miner, the Battle Drill is invulnerable when underground.

Battle Day

The second phase of a Clan War, lasting 24 hours in which members from both participating Clans attack each other's bases in an attempt to win stars and the war.

Battle Machine

A Hero in the Builder Base. It has high HP and moderately high DPS, and is similar to the Barbarian King in this respect. Unlike Heroes in the Home Village, the Battle Machine possesses a rechargeable ability.

Battle Machine Altar

The place where the Battle Machine can be found when not in battle. See Altar.

Battle Ram

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village, and a permanent Clan Capital Troop, that acts as a battering ram; after attacking its target (usually a Wall), it breaks apart to reveal four Barbarians.

BB

Abbreviation for Builder Base.

Beta Minion

An air unit in the Builder Base which works similarly to a regular Minion, but its passive ability allows it to attack a few times at a longer range than normal.

Big Boy

A Subtroop spawned by the Super Witch that resembles a large Skeleton. It has high damage and hitpoints.

Birthday Boom

A temporary Elixir Spell that damages enemy troops and buildings in its radius as well as stunning them.

Blast Bow

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that fires large ballista-like projectiles against ground and air troops, dealing very high splash damage capable of damaging units behind the initial target, much like the Scattershot. It boasts a very long range and very high hitpoints, however has a very slow attack rate and a significant blind spot.

Blizzard

A strategy involving Super Wizards deployed in a Battle Blimp, supported by Invisibility Spells and Rage Spells to do damage within an enemy base.

Boat

A mode of transport which you can repair at Town Hall level 4 in order to travel to and from the Builder Base.

BoB

Abbreviation used for the Book of Building.

BoE

Abbreviation used for the Book of Everything.

BoF

Abbreviation used for the Book of Fighting.

BoH

Abbreviation used for the Book of Heroes.

BoS

Abbreviation used for the Book of Spells.

Book

A term used to refer to the Book class of Magic Items, which are tools that can be used to instantly finish an ongoing upgrade.

Bomb

The first Trap unlocked in the Home Village. It affects ground troops in a small area. Depending on the context, may refer to any explosive trap found in any village, such as the Giant Bomb or Mine.

Bomb Tower

A defense in the Home Village and Clan Capital that deals splash damage to ground troops. It has rather low DPS as well as a rather short range, but when it is destroyed, it reveals a large Bomb which does heavy damage to any ground units nearby when it explodes.

Bomber

A ground unit in the Builder Base that lobs bombs at walls and buildings. Its passive ability allows it to deal more damage on its first attack.

Boost

An action in the Home Village and Builder Base that allows something (such as the training of troops or collection of resources) to be sped up for a period of time at the cost of Gems (or corresponding Magic Items), or that grants a temporary increase in level of troops or heroes, or the ability to train Super Troops.

Boxer Giant

A ground unit in the Builder Base that works similarly to a regular Giant, but its passive ability allows it to deal more damage on its first attack.

Bowler

A Dark Elixir troop in the Home Village that hurls boulders as projectiles, dealing splash damage twice in a straight line.

Bridge

A terrain feature in the Clan Capital. Buildings cannot be placed on top of bridges, but ground troops can walk over them.

Buff

Making something (usually a troop) better. This can come directly or indirectly, directly as in buffing the troop's statistics while indirectly as nerfing some defensive buildings that can counter the troop.

Builder

A builder upgrades and builds new buildings in the Home Village. He sleeps in a Builder's Hut when not actively building or upgrading anything. If the Builder's Hut is converted into a Defensive Building, the Builder corresponding to it will participate in battle, repairing nearby buildings mid-battle.
Depending on the context, the term may also be used to refer to the Master Builder and/or O.T.T.O.

Builder Barracks

A type of Barracks in the Builder Base that allows you to train Builder Base Troops.

Builder Base

A secondary controllable 44-by-44 area in Clash of Clans, unlocked by repairing the Boat in your Home Village. The Builder Base consists of the Builder Hall as well as associated buildings, walls and decorations.

Builder Base Troops

A unit created in the Builder Barracks. They are free to train and have their own special passive abilities.

Builder Boat

A boat that the Master Builder uses to travel to and from your Home Village in order to gear up defenses.

Builder Elixir

A form of Elixir used in the Builder Base, to upgrade army buildings and troops in the Builder Base.

Builder Gold

A form of Gold used in the Builder Base, to upgrade defensive buildings in the Builder Base.

Builder Hall

The central building of the Builder Base, much like how the Town Hall is the central building of the Home Village.

Builder's Hut

A Builder's home. If a Builder is present, periodically a series of 'Z's will emanate from the doorway, indicating a sleeping Builder.
Once the Town Hall is upgraded to level 14, the Builder's Hut can be converted into a Defensive Building, allowing the Builder to participate in battle.

Builder's Workshop

The fifth District unlocked in the Clan Capital.

Building

Buildings are the generic term for the permanent structures in Clash of Clans. Although permanently placed, Traps and walls are usually not considered buildings.

Bureaucrat

The bureaucrat is the top-ranking staff member on the wiki. Bureaucrats can promote and demote admins, chat moderators, rollbacks. They can also promote other users to the rank of bureaucrat, but they cannot demote any bureaucrat (except themselves).

Burst Shot

Some Defensive Buildings fire several consecutive shots in a row, then stop for a brief period, rather than firing at equal intervals. These include the Double Cannon, the Firecrackers, the Multi Mortar, and the Roaster in the Builder Base, and the geared up Cannon, the geared up Mortar, and the Eagle Artillery in the Home Village.

C

Cannon

A defensive building found in the Home Village, Builder Base and Clan Capital that targets ground units only. It has average range, average DPS, and a higher than average attack rate (it is slower in the Clan Capital). When geared up, it can be toggled to fire in bursts of four, at the cost of range and attack rate.

Cannon Cart

A ground unit in the Builder Base that has high DPS but low hitpoints. Its passive ability allows it to remain shooting in place with a small amount of hitpoints once its normal health bar is depleted.

Capital Gold

The primary resource used in the Clan Capital to upgrade all types of buildings there. It can be created in the Forge, or won through Raid Weekends.

Capital Hall

The central building of the Clan Capital, situated in the Capital Peak district. It controls the level of District Hall that can be built in other districts, and consequently the level of all buildings in the Clan Capital.
Once upgraded to level 2, it doubles as a defensive building that shoots high-damage shots similar to the Eagle Artillery.

Capital Peak

The first District unlocked in the Clan Capital. It contains the Capital Hall and is the last district that can be attacked in a Clan Capital Raid.

CC

Abbreviation for Clan Castle, but less commonly also the Clan Capital.

CG

Abbreviation for Clan Games.

Chat

A place where you can chat with other Clash of Clans players here on the Clash of Clans Wiki. Can also refer to the Clan Chat available within the Clash of Clans game itself.

Chain Lightning

The attack style of the Home Village troop Electro Dragon and the Builder Base defense Mega Tesla, which damage multiple targets in a chain.

Challenge

Can be used to refer to one of three different things:
  1. A Friendly Challenge, or practice battles carried out between Clanmates;
  2. A task in Clan Games or Season Challenges which can be undertaken by the player;
  3. An Attack Challenge, or temporary Event level that can be attacked.

Clan

An in-game group of players who join together both socially as well as from a gameplay perspective. Clans can compete with other clans by pooling their trophies to see which Clans have the highest overall trophies. In addition, clanmates can donate troops to each other using the Clan Castle, and talk to each other using a private Clan Chat. They can also compete in Clan Wars and Clan Games for additional rewards, as well as build a Clan Capital together.

Clan Chat

An in-game chat room restricted to members of a particular Clan. The most recent 100 messages are visible to anyone in the Clan; this includes brand-new members.

Clan Capital

A group of villages that a Clan collaborates to build, accessed via the Airship. It consists of several districts, each housing a separate assortment of buildings.

Clan Capital Raid

A part of a Raid Weekend where one Clan attacks the Clan Capital of another Clan. To complete the raid, every District and then the Capital Peak must be destroyed.

Clan Capital Spells

Spells used for Raids in the Clan Capital. Some spells also appear in the Home Village, though their properties in the Clan Capital are altered, with many having effects that last across multiple attacks. Each spell has their own dedicated Spell Factory responsible for unlocking and upgrading them.

Clan Capital Troops

Troops used for Raids in the Clan Capital. Most of these troops also appear in the Home Village or Builder Base, with only a few being exclusive to the Clan Capital. Each troop type has their own dedicated Barracks responsible for unlocking and upgrading them.

Clan Castle

A structure in the Home Village that houses reinforcement troops, spells and Siege Machines donated by your clanmates (or added by Raid Medals). It also stores loot in the Treasury, earned from Star Bonuses, Clan Wars and Clan Games.

Clan Co-Leader

A Clan Co-Leader is the second-highest rank within a Clan, below Clan Leader and above Clan Elder. Co-Leaders have all the power a Leader has, except the ability to: 1) demote another Co-Leader, 2) kick out another Co-Leader, or 3) promote a Co-Leader to Leader. Co-Leaders can be demoted or kicked out by the Clan Leader.

Clan Elder

A Clan Elder is the third-highest rank within a Clan, below Clan Co-Leader and above Clan Member. Elders can promote or kick out Clan Members, and can be demoted or kicked out by the Clan Leader. They can also invite other players to become Clan Members.

Clan Games

An event that occurs occasionally, where players within a Clan can participate in tasks occurring in both the Home Village and Builder Base to earn various kinds of rewards, such as Magic Items or Resources.

Clan Hopper

A player who jumps from clan to clan hence the name.

Clan House

A house situated in the Capital Peak of the Clan Capital. Each Clan Member owns one such house, of which they can customize the appearance with parts unlocked through various means.

Clan Leader

A Clan Leader is the highest-ranking member within a Clan. Clan Leaders can promote, demote or kick out any Clan Member, Clan Elder, or Clan Co-Leader within the Clan, as well as start Clan Wars and edit and manage Clan Capital layouts.

Clanmate

A person with whom you share clan membership. It can refer to any rank within the clan.

Clan Member

One of a possible 50 people within a clan. Typically this refers to someone who is not either a Clan Elder, Clan Co-Leader or Clan Leader, but can also be used for members of any rank in a general sense as well. When used as a rank title, a Member refers to the lowest possible rank within a Clan. A Member has no notable privileges within a Clan and can be promoted to Clan Elder or kicked out of a Clan by any higher rank.

Clan Perks

Special advantages that boost various aspects of clans. This includes shorter troop request wait times, higher donation limits, increased war loot bonuses, troop donation refunds, upgrades for donated troops, and extra war loot storage capacity. In order to attain these perks, clans must level up by obtaining Clan XP.

Clan Symbol

The shield-shaped flag of your clan. It is selected when the Clan is created by the Clan Leader.

Clan Tag

A unique identifier for a Clan, consisting of a sequence of letters and numbers, by which a clan can be easily searched for.

Clan War

A Clan War is a competition between two clans. The eligible players fight head-to-head with opponents in an attempt to score more stars than the opponent. The clan with the most stars wins.

Clan War Leagues

A Clan War League is a single round-robin tournament, typically between eight clans, matched by similar skill level. Clans war with one another to score the most stars in the group. Clans gain League Medals for participation; the most successful clans in the group are promoted, while the least successful clans are demoted.

Clan XP

A special experience meter for each clan separate from each individual member. Clan XP can be accumulated by having the Clan participate in Clan Wars, Clan Games and Raid Weekends, and is required to level up Clans in order to obtain special Clan Perks.

Cliff

A terrain feature in the Clan Capital. Ground Troops cannot pass through them, not even with the use of a Jump Spell, but they can be flown over by air troops.

Cloak

Can refer to one of three things that prevent units from being targeted:
  1. The Builder Base troop Sneaky Archer's or Super Troop Sneaky Goblin's passive abilities "Cloak" which allows them to remain invisible for a duration;
  2. The Archer Queen's special ability "Royal Cloak" which allows her to greatly increase her damage, summon Archers and remain invisible for a duration;
  3. The temporary troop Royal Ghost's passive ability "Ghostly" which allows him to remain invisible for a duration.

In no circumstances can these cloaking abilities grant invincibility to Splash damage, Chain Lightning damage or shots that are already fired.

Clock Tower

A building that functions as a boost in the Builder Base. Every few hours, the Clock Tower will make a free boost available that will speed up all actions in the Builder Base for a short period of time.

Clone Spell

A Spell that clones temporary copies of friendly troops that enter the spell's area of effect.

Clouds

A term related to matchmaking, it derives its name from the clouds players often see while searching for Multiplayer Matches. As players with long matchmaking times would idle on the "Searching for opponents..." screen that is full of clouds for extended periods of time, the term is often used to describe matchmaking, such as "I had to wait 10 minutes in the clouds before finally finding an opponent to attack". The term can also be stylized similar to a weather report, such as "It's really cloudy today (referring to long matchmaking times)".

CoC

Abbreviation for Clash of Clans.

Coco Loon

A Balloon deployed as a sacrifice in order to trigger air traps, primarily Seeking Air Mines, allowing safe passage for other, more valuable air troops. The term "coco" originates from "coconut", as the Balloon falls to the ground like a coconut after being destroyed in this manner.

Cold-Blooded

A war term referring to the use of one Golem in a kill squad.

Collector

See Elixir Collector. Sometimes also used in the general sense to refer to Gold Mines and Dark Elixir Drills as well.

Cosmetic

Any item that changes the appearance of an in-game feature. Hero Skins, Sceneries and Clan House parts all fall into this category.

Co-Leader

See Clan Co-Leader.

Crusher

A defense in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that can attack ground units. It slams into the ground, dealing high damage per hit to all ground units in its area. However, it has a very short range and can be outranged by ranged units.

Cup

A common alternative to the term Trophy.

CW

Abbreviation for Clan Wars.

CWL

Abbreviation for Clan War Leagues.

D

Damage

A numerical representation of a loss in HP.

Damage Per Second

A unit or structure's Damage Per Shot divided by its Attack Rate in seconds.

Damage Per Shot

The amount of damage a unit or structure inflicts each time it attacks. Not to be confused with Damage Per Second or DPS. If (and only if) a unit attacks once per second, Damage Per Shot will equal Damage Per Second.

Dark Elixir

Rare resource that is used primarily to upgrade heroes and Dark Elixir Troops, as well as boost Super Troops.

Dark Barracks

A structure in the Home Village that allows you to train Dark Elixir Troops.

Dark Elixir Drill

A structure in the Home Village that collects Dark Elixir from an unlimited underground reserve.

Dark Elixir Storage

A structure in the Home Village that stores Dark Elixir.

Dark Elixir Troop

A unit created in the Dark Barracks that requires Dark Elixir to train.

Dark Spell Factory

An army building in the Home Village that allows you to brew compact Dark Spells. These spells take up half the space of an elixir Spell and have unique abilities that are able to assist in a player's attack.

Dark Spells

Offensive abilities that are able to be utilized in battle, created using the Dark Spell Factory. Due to their compactness, you can fit more of them into a battle. They can also be donated to Clan Castles that are at least level 4 and above.

DE

See Dark Elixir.

Decoration

Objects purely aesthetic to your village.

Defeat

The outcome when the attacker fails to earn any stars, or in the case of a Clan War or Versus Battle, scores less stars (or less overall destruction, if the number of stars are the same). The attacker will lose trophies which will be awarded to the defender. Loot bonuses (if any) will not be triggered, but the attacker keeps all the resources he/she raided from the village. In the case of a Clan War, a fraction of the war loot will still be awarded.

Defense

Depending on context, refers either to defensive buildings (see Defensive Building) or defensive raids (see Raid).

Defensive Building

A group of structures designed to safeguard your village. They are able to destroy the attacking forces that otherwise would take your resources and trophies.

Defensive Structure

See Defensive Building.

Diggy

A Pet that follows its Hero by burrowing underground, stunning any defenses it attacks. He can follow other Heroes should his initial Hero be defeated.

Dip Attack

A common war term used to describe an attack where a player attacks an opponent that has a lower Town Hall level than the player. Often this may be in an attempt to clean up bases that have not been 3-starred earlier in the war.

District

A 50-by-50 area in the Clan Capital, consisting of various buildings and traps similar to the Home Village and Builder Base, but also unique terrain features such as water. A Clan Capital comprises of several districts.

District Hall

The central building of individual Districts in the Clan Capital. It determines the maximum level that buildings can be upgraded to in its own district.

Double Cannon

A defensive building in the Builder Base that fires a burst of four shots at a time. It can target ground troops and has a high DPS but a rather short range.

DPS

See Damage Per Second.

Draw

An outcome in Clan Wars or Versus Battles that occurs when both sides score an equal number of stars and has equal amounts of overall destruction. In the case of a Clan War, a fraction of the war loot will be awarded, but this fraction is slightly higher than if the Clan lost. In the case of a Versus Battle, neither player gains or loses any trophies or loot.

Dragon

A mighty flying unit in the Home Village, that has high health and DPS.

Dragon Cliffs

The sixth District unlocked in the Clan Capital.

Dragon Rider

A mechanized flying unit in the Home Village with comparable statistics to the Dragon, which preferentially targets defensive buildings at good range. When destroyed, it does considerable damage where it falls.

Drop Ship

A Builder Base troop that drops Skeletons as a means of attack. Its passive ability allows it to deal some damage and spawn more Skeletons when it is destroyed.

Eagle Artillery

A Defensive Building in the Home Village that has a massive range covering practically the entire village. It only activates upon deployment of a large amount of Troops, and fires three shots in 10-second volleys, dealing moderately high damage.

Earthquake Spell

A Dark Spell that is used to damage buildings by taking away a portion of their Hit Points. Due to the fact that it damages buildings a percentage of their remaining hitpoints, it is much more effective on stronger structures such as the Town Hall. Its effect is better on Walls, where four Earthquake Spells are able to instantly destroy them regardless of the level of either.

Edrag

A common shorthand for Electro Dragon.

El Primo

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village, who assaults defenses and is extremely adept at breaking Walls.

Elder

See Clan Elder.

Electro Dragon

A large, mighty flying unit that is able to fire bolts of electricity from its mouth, that possess a chain lightning effect that can hit up to five targets at once. When destroyed, it unleashes a Lightning Spell-like effect on the area around it.

Electro Owl

A flying Pet that is capable of firing chain lightning bolts, similar to those of the Electro Dragon, but only hitting up to two targets at once.

Electro Titan

A Ground Troop that boasts very high hitpoints, and an unstoppable aura that continuously damages almost everything around her.

Elixir

A resource used primarily for constructing and upgrading offensive structures and units. It is also used to create spells.
There are two different types of Elixir that are used; one each for the Home Village and Builder Base; the latter is also known as Builder Elixir. Elixir of one type cannot be used to replace Elixir of the other type (e.g. Elixir from the Builder Base cannot be used to conduct research in the Laboratory in the Home Village).

Elixir Collector

A structure that collects Elixir from an unlimited underground reserve.

Elixir Pump

See Elixir Collector.

Elixir Spells

Refers to Spells, offensive abilities that are able to be utilized in battle, that are brewed within the Spell Factory.

Elixir Storage

A structure that stores Elixir.

Elixir Troops

A unit trained in the standard Barracks and upgraded with Elixir.

Engineering

A rather common (and often frowned upon) Clan War practice where a Clan attempts to control war matchmaking by manipulating War Weight (for example, by having certain players not build certain defensive buildings but nonetheless maintain offense), such that the Clan can easily score a victory over the opposing clan.

Event

A feature that impacts some part of gameplay for a limited time, such as reducing the training cost of a particular troop(s) or spell(s), or increasing the Clan XP earned from Clan Wars.

Experience

A numeric value that increases based on performing a variety of different activities in game. Experience level has no in-game impact other than unlocking various Decorations.

F

Farmer

A player who primarily engages in farming.

Farming

Method of gameplay where the player focuses on acquiring resources instead of Trophies.

FC

Abbreviation of Friendly Challenge.

FF

Abbreviation for Flame Flinger.

Firecrackers

A defensive building that fires bursts of three small rockets to air units.

Flame Flinger

A Siege Machine that hurls Fire Spirits from very long range, capable of outranging many defenses. The Fire Spirits create areas of effect that continuously damage defending units and walls.

Floor

A common way to refer to one's Trophy count. For example, the 55th floor refers to 5,500-5,599 trophies.

Flying Fortress

An air troop in the Clan Capital that boasts very high hitpoints, that spawns a large number Skeleton Gliders as it gets damaged, as well as a large number of Skeletons when destroyed. It boasts an extremely high Housing Space requirement, only allowing one or two to fit in an army at once.

Forge

A structure in the Home Village that is used to create Capital Gold. Some Capital Gold is generated automatically over time, but additional Capital Gold can be created using a Builder and Resources from the Home Village and Builder Base.

Fractional Damage

The concept where the damage that a unit causes does not have to be represented as a whole number. Within the Home Village, several units and defenses can cause fractional damage per attack, particularly those whose attack rates are not a whole number of seconds. According to Supercell, Hit points are kept to two significant digits. In the Builder Base, defenses do not cause fractional damage (instead the DPS is fractional); however troops can cause fractional damage.

Freemium

Business model where an app is given away for free, and then its users are encouraged to make In-App Purchases. Clash of Clans is a freemium game.

Freeze Spell

A spell capable of temporarily disabling defenses and/or enemy troops.

Freeze Trap

A temporary Trap in the Home Village that freezes units around it when triggered.

Friendly Challenge

A feature within clans that allow clanmates to perform attacks on one another without loss of trophies, resources or army.

Friendly War

A feature that allows two clans to arrange a Clan War with each order. Unlike normal Clan Wars, the length of the war can be adjusted, no part of the army is lost (with the exception of Clan Castle reinforcements), and no Clan XP or war loot is awarded at the conclusion of the war.

Frost Spell

A Clan Capital spell that chills the affected area, slowing down enemy defenses and defending troops. The Frost Spell also freezes over water, allowing ground troops to move over them.

Frostmite

A Subtroop summoned only by Frosty. Similar to the Yetimite, it rushes an enemy defense, doing minimal damage but slowing it down if it hits.

Frosty

A Pet in the Home Village that summons Frostmites to slow down enemy defenses.

Funneling

The act of exploiting troop AI to manipulate the path troops take, to achieve a favorable outcome on either offense (example: using a Queen Walk to clear some defenses that Hog Riders would otherwise target) or defense (for example, deliberately placing a gap in Walls to make ground troops pass through them, where they can be ejected by a Spring Trap). The name derives from the funnel, a device used to direct liquids or small solids such as powder into a small opening.

G

Gear Up

A feature that allows certain defenses in the Home Village to toggle between its normal variant and a version resembling a similar building in the Builder Base. It is only available when both defenses from both bases are sufficiently leveled, and it uses the Master Builder instead of any normal Builders.

Gem Mine

A Resource Building in the Builder Base that produces Gems, albeit very slowly.

Gemmer

A player who regularly buys and uses large quantities of Gems.

Gems

Special resource obtained primarily through In-App Purchases that can be exchanged for other resources or used to speed up build times or upgrade times.

Giant

A strong, ground-based melee unit in the Home Village that has low movement speed, high HP and low to medium DPS. It preferentially targets defensive buildings.
It may also refer to the Boxer Giant or Super Giant, depending on the context.

Giant Bomb

A more powerful version of the Bomb trap, found in the Home Village.
It may also refer to the Mega Mine, depending on the context.

Giant Cannon

A defense in the Builder Base and Clan Capital. It shoots giant cannonballs that damage all ground troops in a straight line.

Giant Skeleton

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village. It functions similar to a normal Giant with more hitpoints, except that it deals huge amounts of death damage when killed.

GiBaRch

An army composition consisting of Giants, Barbarians and Archers.

Giga Inferno

A defense sported by the Town Hall when it is upgraded to level 13. An upgraded variant of the Giga Tesla, it attacks faster while doing at least as much DPS as the Giga Tesla. When sufficiently upgraded, the explosion that occurs when the Town Hall is destroyed will either (at level 13) freeze or (at level 14 and 15) poison surrounding units in addition to doing damage, slowing them down.

Giga Tesla

A defense sported by the Town Hall when it is upgraded to level 12. It only emerges when the Town Hall is damaged, or when 51% destruction is reached. It can attack multiple targets with very high damage per second, and when sufficiently upgraded, it can be made to explode when destroyed, causing massive damage to attacking troops.

Gob

See Goblin.

Goblin

A ground-based melee unit in the Home Village that has high movement speed, low HP and low to medium DPS. It preferentially targets resource buildings and causes double damage to them.

Goblin Knife

An Attack Strategy making use of a ground attack to clear a path for Goblins to easily attack resource buildings in the core, usually the Dark Elixir Storage and/or the Town Hall.

GoHo

An Attack Strategy making use of a combination of primarily Golems, Hog Riders, and usually Wizards in a two-phase attack normally used to 3-star Town Hall 8 and Town Hall 9 opponents in Clan Wars.

Gold

Resource used primarily for building and upgrading defensive structures. Gold is also used to find a Multiplayer Match in the Home Village.
There are two types of Gold, one used in the Home Village and the other used in the Builder Base; the latter is also known as Builder Gold. Gold of one type cannot replace Gold of the other type (e.g. Gold in the Home Village cannot be used to upgrade a defense in the Builder Base).

Gold Mine

A structure that collects Gold from an unlimited underground reserve.

Gold Pass

An In-App Purchase that enables the player to access the Gold tier of rewards in Season Challenges. These rewards include perks which reduce upgrade and training times and costs, extra Magic Items, and Hero Skins.
Depending on the context, it can refer to Season Challenges as a whole, such as "I need to loot more Dark Elixir for the Gold Pass".

Gold Storage

A structure that stores Gold.

Golem

A very powerful, high HP and low DPS unit in the Home Village that preferentially targets defenses. It explodes (causing splash damage) and splits into multiple Golemites when destroyed.

Golem Quarry

The seventh District unlocked in the Clan Capital. It contains the Mountain Golem Quarry, which is used to unlock and upgrade the Mountain Golem.

Golemite

A weaker version of a Golem that is formed (in a pair or trio) when a Golem dies. When it dies, it will explode, similar to the Golem.

GoWiPe

An attack strategy that makes use of a combination of GOlem, WIzard and PE.K.K.A units.

GoWiWi

An attack strategy that makes use of a combination of GOlem, WIzard and WItch units.

Grand Builder

The Builder who works in the Clan Capital.

Grand Warden

A supporting Hero in the Home Village able to buff the Hit Points of nearby troops, as well as make them invincible with his Eternal Tome ability.

Grand Warden Altar

The anchor point for the Grand Warden; he can be found around the altar when not in battle. If the Grand Warden is available for defense, the altar functions as the point where the Grand Warden defends from.

Graveyard Spell

A Clan Capital spell that creates Skeletons upon the defeat of troops, both friendly and enemy.

Ground Troop

Ground troops are troops that travel on ground only. In game terms, they must destroy or go around walls (unless they can jump over them innately like Hog Riders or are under the effect of the Jump Spell and will tend to walk around buildings and decorations unless there is no other path. They can be targeted by Troops and Defenses that can attack ground troops, but not by those that can only attack air troops.

Ground Unit

See Ground Troop.

Guard Post

A defense that does not do any direct damage but instead houses defensive Raged Barbarians and Sneaky Archers to both damage and distract enemies, similar to how the Clan Castle can house defensive troops.
Depending on the context, it may also be used to refer to any of the defensive posts (Super Giant Post, Raid Cart Post or Super Dragon Post) in the Clan Capital.

H

Hammer

A term referring to the Hammer class of Magic Items, which are special items that enable players to instantly upgrade buildings, troops, spells or heroes. They can only be purchased with League Medals and there is a one week cooldown between purchasing hammers of the same type.

Haste Spell

A Dark Spell that is used to speed up troops that enter its area of effect. It is very effective on slower troops like Balloons.

Headhunter

A Dark Elixir Troop in the Home Village that prioritizes attacking enemy Heroes and does increased damage to them. Her attacks also carry a poison effect, which is able to slow affected units' movement and attack speed similarly to the Poison Spell.

Healer

An air unit in the Home Village that heals friendly ground units on the battlefield. It has average HP and has no offensive capabilities. It preferentially heals the nearest injured ground troop, and will remain stationary until a ground troop is damaged. When it is deployed on defense in the Clan Castle, the Healer will heal damaged friendly (i.e. other defensive) ground troops.

Healing Spell

A Spell appearing in the Home Village and Clan Capital, capable of temporarily healing friendly troops within a small radius. When placed, the Healing Spell causes a golden ring of healing to appear, healing any friendly troops that are within the ring.

Health

See Hit Points.

Hero

Very powerful units that are immortal, but must rest for a period of time whenever they take damage. They don't take any space in the Army Camp. Instead, altars are needed for each hero. When a hero is brought to zero health on the battlefield, they are 'stunned' and unusable for the remainder of the battle. Once damaged, heroes must regenerate their health fully before they can again be used in battle.
When a Hero is upgraded to level 5, its ability is unlocked; this ability is improved every fifth level afterwards, with the exception of the Grand Warden's ability Life Aura which is upgraded every level from level 1 to 40.

Hero Skin

A cosmetic unlockable that alters the appearence of a Hero. Most are unlockable through the Gold Pass, where they are often found at the end of the rewards track in Season Challenges.

Hidden Mega Tesla

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that targets both ground and air units. Combining aspects from the Hidden Tesla and Mega Tesla, it remains hidden from attackers until enemies enter its range or 51% destruction is achieved, after which it inflicts high damage against up to two targets at a time, albeit at a very slow attack rate.

Hidden Tesla

A defensive building in both the Home Village and Builder Base that targets both ground units and air units. It has short range, average DPS, and a higher than average attack rate.
The Hidden Tesla is hidden from the attacker until an attacking troop comes within its trigger range, at which point it pops up out of the ground and begins attacking. Once the attacker reaches 51% destruction, any Hidden Teslas that have not already been triggered will automatically appear.

Hit

A term that can be used to refer to an individual attack. Common in context of Clan Wars and Clan Capital Raids, such as "it took three hits to score two stars on that base" or "we destroyed Capital Peak in three hits".

Hit Points

A numerical representation of how much health a unit or structure has. When a unit or structure takes damage, its hit points are lowered. When it reaches 0 hit points, it is destroyed.

Hog Glider

A flying unit in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that is a Hog Rider carried by a glider, which glides into defensive buildings. Its ability enables it to stun the defense it hits for a period.

Hog Raiders

A Squad in the Clan Capital that consists of one Hog Glider and two Hog Riders.

Hog Rider

A fast, ground-based melee unit in the Home Village, Builder Base and Clan Capital that has high movement speed, medium HP and medium DPS. It preferentially targets defensive buildings and can jump over Walls.

Home Village

The primary controllable 44-by-44 area in Clash of Clans. It consists of the Town Hall, as well as associated buildings, walls and decorations.

Housing Space

A measure of how much room a troop requires in either an Army Camp or a Clan Castle in the Home Village. For example, a Clan Castle or Army Camp that has a capacity of 20 housing units can hold 20 Archers (1 housing unit each), or 4 Giants (5 housing units each), or one Dragon, or another combination of troops that does not exceed 20 housing units.
In the Builder Base, this concept is not used as the Army Camps in the Builder Base cannot be upgraded; instead most Builder Base Troops can be upgraded to particular levels to fit more of them.

HV

Abbreviation for Home Village.

Hybrid

Often used to refer to the combination of Hog Riders and Miners in an attack, or can be used in a more general sense where two or more types of attacks are combined in one (such as in GoLaLoon).

Ice Golem

A Dark Elixir troop in the Home Village that has high hitpoints with the ability to completely freeze opposing units around it on death.

Ice Hound

A Super Troop base on the Lava Hound that can slow down Defensive Buildings while attacking and completely freeze nearby units and split into smaller pups like the Lava Hound.

Ice Pup

A sub-troop which is split when the Ice Hound dies and can slow down Defensive Buildings while attacking.

Ice Wizard

A temporary Elixir troop in the Home Village that targets and freezes defensive buildings, slowing their fire rate.

IGN

Standing for 'in-game name', this is the name of your village.

In-App Purchase

Items that can be bought with real money while playing the game.

Inferno Dragon

A Super Troop based on the Baby Dragon, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital.. It fires an Inferno beam to attack, which does increasing damage over time to its target, much like the single-target Inferno Tower.

Inferno Tower

A defensive building in the Home Village and Clan Capital that targets both ground units and air units. It has long range and very high attack rate. The Inferno Tower has two modes: single-target, which attacks a single unit for progressively higher DPS, and multi-target (exclusive to the Home Village), which attacks several units at once for moderate DPS.

Invisibility Spell

A Spell which makes all offensive and defensive units except Siege Machines and Walls invisible, preventing them from being targeted by opponents.

J

Jump Spell

A spell appearing in the Home Village and Clan Capital, that temporarily allows ground troops to jump over Walls. In the Clan Capital, it can also be used to cross small gaps of water, as well as vines.

K

Kicking

The act of removing a Clan Member from a Clan. Only Clan Elders, Co-Leaders and the Leader are capable of kicking members, and they can only do so against members of lower rank than themselves.

Kill Squad

A common war term used to describe a portion of an army that serves a critical function as a first phase to help the following phase(s) in the attack. For example, in a GoLaLoon attack, the kill squad (usually consisting of Golems, Wizards and Heroes) is typically used to disable the opposing Clan Castle troops, some Air Defenses and the Archer Queen.

L

Laboratory

A structure in the Home Village that allows you to upgrade troops and spells. Depending on the context, it may also refer to the Star Laboratory.

LaLoon

An Attack Strategy consisting of Lava Hounds and Balloons.

L.A.S.S.I

A mechnical Pet in the Home Village that can jump over Walls to attack targets. She has average HP and DPS, but a fast movement speed and attack rate.

Lava Hound

An air unit in the Home Village with a favorite target of Air Defenses. When a Lava Hound dies, it splits up into 8 to 18 (dependent on level) Lava Pups, a weaker version of the Lava Hound. The Lava Hound is a Dark Elixir troop.

Lava Launcher

A Mortar-like defense in the Builder Base that shoots balls of lava at very long range. The lava does only minor damage on impact, but lasts for a considerable duration, with a damage over time effect similar to the Poison Spell.

Lava Pup

A Subtroop that is ejected in masses when a Lava Hound is killed. It cannot be trained directly.

Layout

Refers to a specific distribution of buildings, traps and walls. Each layout is typically designed for a purpose (protecting resources, protecting trophies in general, defending against a particular troop like a Hog Rider, etc.). Different layouts not only cause troops to behave in a certain way, it also will typically dictate the attack strategy employed by the opponent.

League

The way Clash of Clans divides players with different trophy counts, by placing players with similar trophy count together to judge progress. There are eight leagues in the Home Village (namely Bronze, Silver, Gold, Crystal, Master, Champion, Titan and Legend), and each league except for Legend has three divisions. Higher leagues provide higher league bonuses and star bonuses for every victory, but generally the opponents in higher leagues will be harder to beat. To join a League one must complete an attack when they have at least 400 trophies. The leagues reset every month.

League Bonus

Bonus loot won in addition to Resources that were stolen from the enemy, upon achieving a victory whilst in a League. The League Bonus is dependent on how much of the enemy's base was destroyed in the attack; more destruction means a higher proportion of League Bonus is awarded.

Legend League

The highest trophy League in the Home Village, which utilises separate matchmaking rules to minimise the effects of clouds. Players are limited in the number of attacks and defenses they have in Multiplayer Battles each day.

League Medal

A Resource used in the Home Village, won from Clan War Leagues, that can be traded in for various rewards in the Shop.

Legend Trophies

Permanent purple Trophies that are awarded at the end of a Legend League season, in trade for any excess trophies past 5000 the player might have at the end of a Legend League season. These trophies are displayed in the player's profile.

Lightning Spell

A spell appearing in the Home Village and Clan Capital, that invokes a lightning bolt that drop from the sky, damaging all buildings and enemy troops in a small area. The lightning bolt also briefly stuns affected targets, causing them to re-target.

LL

Abbreviation for Log Launcher.

Log Launcher

A Siege Machine which targets the Town Hall and shoots logs on the way. The log deals x4 damage to Walls, and can travel a considerable distance from the Log Launcher. The Log Launcher's health will decrease while attacking, like the Siege Barracks.

Log Trap

A Trap in the Clan Capital that deals damage to ground troops in its path.

Loon

A common shorthand for Balloon. Depending on the context, may also be used to refer to the Rocket Balloon.

Loot Bonus

Colloquial term usually referring to bonus Resources won by scoring a victory in Multiplayer Attacks or Versus Battles.

Loot Cart

A structure found in the Home Village that allows a player to recover part of the loot they have lost to an enemy Raid, or a large amount of loot should they have been inactive for a long period of time.

M

Magic Items

Special items, usually obtained from Clan Games, that have special functions, such as allowing instantaneous completion of an Upgrade, or boosting all of a player's Resource Collectors at once.

Master Builder

The one and only Builder in the Builder Base. He functions just like a normal Builder does, except that he has two distinctions: he controls the Battle Machine, and he is also able to gear up particular defenses in the Home Village. Once the O.T.T.O Hut is fully upgraded, he can freely travel between the Builder Base and Home Village to function as an extra builder for both villages.

Master Builder's Hut

The place of residence for the Master Builder in the Home Village. Only buildable once the O.T.T.O Hut is fully upgraded and O.T.T.O unlocked.

Matchmaking

The act of finding an opponent, either for Multiplayer or for Clan Wars.

Meat Shield

A meat shield is one or more troops used as a "distraction" to draw fire away from other troops so they can do damage. The Giant is obviously the most common meat shield because of his high health. P.E.K.K.A is also a great choice for a meat shield because of her high health and high DPS. However, because many people don't have/can't afford a P.E.K.K.A (or do not seem to find it viable), they use Giants instead.

Medal

Refers to either League Medals or Raid Medals, depending on the context.

Mega Mine

A Trap in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that does rather heavy damage. Like the Mine, it can be set to attack either ground or air troops.

Mega Tesla

A defense in the Builder Base that does massive damage but has a very slow fire rate. Its chain lightning allows it to hit a second target a distance from its initial target.

Melee

Disorganized, free-for-all, close quarters combat. In Clash of Clans terms, a melee troop is one that attacks via hand-to-hand combat as opposed to at range. If a melee troop is in range to attack another troop, that troop can always attack back.

Mighty Yak

A Pet in the Home Village with high hitpoints that rams at opposing buildings and Walls, doing 20x damage to the latter. If its assigned Hero is defeated before them, it will be temporarily enraged, during which it moves faster and does extra damage.

Mine

A Trap in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that explodes like a Bomb, doing minor damage. It can be set to attack either ground or air troops, but not both at once.
It can also refer to the Gold Mine, or Air Bomb, or Seeking Air Mine, depending on the context.

Miner

An Elixir troop that burrows underground to reach their target, bypassing walls where necessary, while impervious to any damage while doing so.

Mini-Minion Hive

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that sends out swarms of Mini-Minions to attack ground units and air units alike, dealing significant DPS at a very long range.

Minion

A ranged Dark Elixir air unit that has low HP and low DPS, appearing in the Home Village and Clan Capital. It cannot be targeted by Seeking Air Mines.
It can also refer to the Beta Minion, depending on the context.

Minion Horde

A Squad in the Clan Capital comprising of six Minions.

Mirror

A common war term used to refer to the opposing war base with the same base number as the player. For instance, if a player is base #5 on their side, their mirror will be base #5 on the enemy's side.

Member

See Clan Member.

Monolith

A defensive structure in the Home Village that deals damage that scales with a unit's maximum health, allowing it to destroy any unit relatively quickly.

Mortar

A defensive structure in the Home Village that targets ground units only and has a very low attack rate, but does a considerable amount of splash damage over a relatively large radius.
Depending on the context, it may also refer to the Multi Mortar.

Mountain Golem

A ground troop in the Clan Capital with very high hitpoints. A more extreme version of the Golem, it boasts extremely high damage, but is also extremely slow to move and attack, although the Mountain Golem does not preferentially target defenses. It boasts an extremely high Housing Space requirement, only allowing one to fit in an army at once.

Movement Speed

A number associated with an offensive unit that determines its movement speed across the battlefield; the higher the number, the faster the unit moves.

Multi Cannon

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that targets ground troops. It fires a burst of eight cannon shots at a time to a single target, making it an amplified form of the Double Cannon. This gives it a high DPS, but the Multi Cannon has rather short range.

Multi Mortar

A defensive building in the Builder Base and Clan Capital that fires a burst of four mortar shells at a time, each doing splash damage to ground troops.

Multi-Archer Tower

A merged defense formed from two level 21 Archer Towers that adapts to how many targets there are in its radius, dealing a huge amount of damage per second to a single target, and a good amount of damage on multiple targets. The damage of the defense increases the lesser its targets.

Multiplayer Attack

See Raid. Multiplayer attacks refer specifically to those raids against another user in the Home Village, and often refer to only those attacks that occur as a result of multiplayer matches.

Multiplayer Match

Multiplayer matching is the act of selecting the "Attack!" button on the main screen while in the Home Village and then clicking "Find a Match" (for a nominal fee of Gold). If a player is currently in a Trophy League and successfully scores at least one star in such a match, that player will receive a League Bonus.

N

Nerf

Making something (usually a troop) worse. This can come directly or indirectly, directly as in nerfing the troop's statistics while indirectly as buffing some defensive buildings that can counter the troop.

Nexting

A verb used to describe searching for a base to raid. ex: I keep nexting but can't find a good base to attack.

Night Witch

A troop in the Builder Base that spawns Bats periodically. Its passive ability allows it to spawn a few more Bats upon death.

O

Obstacles

Natural objects that are randomly placed about your village. Removing them can earn you a small amount of Gems. Obstacles periodically respawn, but in either one of the two Villages, only 45 of them will appear at any one time with the exception of Special Obstacles and Gem Boxes (which count towards the limit but will spawn regardless of whether the limit has been reached). Obstacles include Trees, Rocks, Bushes, Mushrooms, Gem Boxes, and Trunks, etc.

O.T.T.O

A robotic builder constructed by the Master Builder. It resides in the O.T.T.O Hut situated in the Builder Base, and can function as a builder there.

O.T.T.O Hut

The Builder's Hut equivalent for O.T.T.O, however O.T.T.O itself is only available when the Hut is fully upgraded.

One-shot

A term that refers to a unit or structure completely destroying another previously-undamaged unit or structure in a single attack, i.e. destroying it in one shot. Usually used as a verb, such as "That Wizard Tower one-shotted my Goblins."

Owl

See Electro Owl.

P

Parent troop

The reciprocal term of subtroops, referring to Golems, Witches, Lava Hounds, Night Witches and Drop Ships. They split into or summon their corresponding subtroops.

Party Wizard

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village based on the Wizard. He has a higher DPS but lower hitpoints than a normal Wizard.

Passive ability

An ability that does not require manual activation and works by itself. All Builder Base Troops possess a passive ability that is unlockable when they are sufficiently upgraded. See Ability.

P.E.K.K.A

Currently one of the most powerful of the Elixir-based troops, the P.E.K.K.A is a ground-based, melee unit that has very high HP and very high DPS.

Pek

Pekka

Pet

Offensive units that accompany Heroes, supplementing their capabilities. They are unlocked and upgraded in the Pet House.

Pet House

A building in the Home Village that allows you to unlock and upgrade Pets.

Phoenix

A Pet that has the ability to temporarily revive her Hero once they run out of hitpoints, providing a brief moment of invulnerability.

Player Tag

A unique identifier for a player, consisting of a sequence of letters and numbers, by which they can be easily searched for.

Poison Bomb

Commonly used to refer to the poison effect that occurs when a Giga Inferno of Town Hal level 14 or higher is destroyed, but may also be used to refer to the projectiles thrown by a Spell Tower that uses Poison Spells.

Poison Lizard

A Pet that seeks out defending Heroes and troops near its own Hero, damaging and poisoning them to slow them down.

Poison Spell

A Dark Spell that slows down as well as damages enemy troops over time.

Pot

A shorthand for Potion.

Potion

A class of Magic Items which generally provide temporary benefits, such as providing a Boost in lieu of using Gems (or Resources), or an increase in rate of work for Builders.

Practice Mode

A feature which introduces attack strategies to players through guided single-player levels. Fixed army compositions are provided, and players can disable the tutorials to try out the strategies on their own.

Preparation Day

The first phase of a Clan War, lasting 23 hours, in which participants can donate troops to War Bases in an effort to defend their War Bases as well as scout enemy War Bases for which they can formulate strategies in order to win stars from these enemy War Bases.

Pump

See Elixir Collector.

Pumpkin Barbarian

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village, comprising of a Barbarian using a pumpkin as a layer of armor, capable of absorbing excess damage dealt to the Barbarian.

Pumpkin Bomb

A temporary Trap in the Home Village that behaves as a (at the time it was available) more effective Bomb.

Push Trap

A Trap in the Builder Base that displaces ground troops.

Quake

A short form that refers to the Earthquake Spell.

Queen

A short form that refers to the Archer Queen.

Queen Charge

A method of attacking that uses the Archer Queen along with Healers to take out key defenses before sending in the main army. Commonly, Queen Charges may go deep into the base in order to reach these key defenses, and this will often involve the support of funneling troops to ensure the Queen enters the base.

Queen Walk

A method of attacking that uses the Archer Queen along with Healers to take out a portion of the base for funneling purposes. The term itself can also be used as a blanket term to include Queen Charges as well.

QC

Common abbreviation for Queen Charge.

QW

Common abbreviation for Queen Walk.

R

Raid

A raid is an attack on a Village, either yours (i.e. a Defense), another user's (i.e. a Multiplayer Attack or Clan War attack) or an NPC village (as part of the Single Player Campaign). At least one troop or spell (or the Clan Castle) must be deployed for it to be considered an attack. If at least one star is earned, the attack is considered successful, and if no star is earned the attack is considered a failure. In multiplayer attacks, trophies are earned for successful attacks and lost for failed attacks, and if the attacking player is in a trophy league a multiplayer victory will also trigger the league's loot bonus.
Depending on the context, it is also used to refer to Raids made in the Clan Capital.

Raid Cart

A Squad in the Clan Capital consisting of a Siege Cart and four Barbarians. The term is also often used to refer to the Siege Cart itself.

Raid Cart Post

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that houses a Siege Cart (belonging to the Raid Cart squad) to defend the District.

Raid Medal

A Resource used in the Clan Capital, that can be traded for various rewards in the Trader or used to reinforce one's own Clan Castle.

Raid Weekends

A weekly Event where Clans can attack one another's Clan Capitals to win Capital Gold and Raid Medals through a series of Clan Capital Raids.

Raiding

See Raid.

Rage Spell

A spell appearing in the Home Village and Clan Capital that temporarily increases the movement speed and damage per second of any troops in a small radius.

Raged Barbarian

A ground troop in the Builder Base. He has moderate DPS and hitpoints. His special ability allows him to be enraged for the first few seconds after he is deployed, moving faster and doing extra damage.

Ram Rider

A temporary Elixir troop in the Home Village, which when initially deployed charges at defensive buildings, destroying any Walls in her way.

Rapid Rockets

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that fires bursts of five rockets to air troops, similar to the Firecrackers in the Builder Base. It has very high DPS, higher than the standard Air Defense, but a shorter range.

Recall Spell

An Elixir Spell that allows the attacker to capture a group of their own Troops, Heroes and/or Pets, and deploy them elsewhere.

Reflector

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that counters attacks made against it back to the attacker, dealing moderately high damage.

Reputation

A numeric value that increases as the player contributes Capital Gold to the building of the Clan Capital. Reputation level only serves to unlock Clan House parts, with no further impact on gameplay.

Resource

In-game currencies used to purchase and upgrade assets. Current in-game resources include Gold, Elixir, Dark Elixir (in the Home Village), as well as Builder Gold and Builder Elixir (in the Builder Base) as well as Gems.

Revenge

A raiding feature in the Home Village that allows a person to attack someone that has attacked them.

Ricochet Cannon

A very powerful merged defense made by merging two level 21 Cannons together. It attacks by shooting large cannonballs that bounce to a nearby target, dealing massive damage to both targets.

Roaster

A defensive building in the Builder Base. It fires plasma at both ground and air units in a fiery burst.

Rocket Artillery

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that fires large rockets against ground and air troops, dealing very high splash damage. It boasts a long range, however has a very slow attack rate and a blind spot.

Rocket Balloon

A Super Troop based on the Balloon, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital. Its Boosters special ability allows it to move extremely fast for the first few seconds after it is deployed. In the Clan Capital, Rocket Balloons are deployed in pairs.

Royal Champion

A Hero in the Home Village, with high DPS and moderate HP, that uses a spear to perform ranged attacks. She preferentially targets defenses, but can also attack both ground and air troops if they threaten her.

Royal Champion Altar

The location for where the Royal Champion can be found when patrolling on defense or outside of battle. See also Altar.

Royal Ghost

A temporary Elixir troop in the Home Village that is temporarily invisible to defenses like the Sneaky Archer.

Royals

A common alternate term for Heroes. Sometimes refers exclusively to the Barbarian King and the Archer Queen.

Rune

Magic Items which allow the player to instantly fill their resource storages with the corresponding resource shown on the rune.

S

SAM

Abbreviation for Seeking Air Mine.

Santa Strike

A temporary Trap in the Home Village that triggers a drop of explosive presents, dealing area damage.

Santa's Surprise

A temporary Spell in the Home Village which drops presents over a wide area, each of which deals moderate area damage on impact.

SB

Abbreviation for Siege Barracks.

Scattershot

A defense in the Home Village that fires bundles of stones at enemies, dealing splash damage to its target and in a cone-shaped area behind the target.

Scenery

The aesthetic around the Home Village and various other areas in the game. Aside from the default sceneries available to players at the start of the game, players can purchase other sceneries in the Shop and change the scenery accordingly to customize their village aesthetics.

Scout

A term in Clan Wars that refers to an attack, usually by a player of a lower Town Hall level, on an enemy base used mainly to check the placement of Traps, Teslas, as well as determine what Clan Castle troops have been stationed. This helps players with the necessary war strength in planning an attack on the scouted base.
It may also be used to simply refer to the "Scout" action that may be performed to view an enemy's War Base (during Battle Day only) or a Friendly Challenge, which gives a preview of the base in question.

Season Challenges

A feature where players can partake in tasks involving both the Home Village and Builder Base to win rewards for themselves, which include Resources and Magic Items. Players can purchase the Gold Pass to earn increased rewards from the Season Challenges, as well as Hero Skins.

Seeking Air Mine

A trap that does massive damage to a single air troop. It cannot be triggered by a Minion or Lava Pup, however.

Shattered

A common war term that refers to having two Golems used in a kill squad.

Shield

A form of village protection that allows protection from enemy attack as long as it is active. It can be awarded due to enemy raids causing enough damage, or purchased with Gems through the shop. Raiding through the shield will deduct some of the time it lasts, however.

Shop

An in-game menu used to purchase in-game items, such as new buildings, decorations, resources or cosmetics, which may cost in-game resources or real money.

Shovel of Obstacles

A Magic Item which enables any Obstacle to be moved, allowing them to be kept in the village without being removed.

Shrink Trap

A temporary Trap in the Home Village that shrinks affected units, reducing their offensive stats (DPS, Hit Points and Movement Speed) for a period.

Siege Barracks

A stationary Siege Machine that produces a P.E.K.K.A and Wizards when deployed, followed by the Clan Castle reinforcements once destroyed.

Siege Cart

A ground troop in the Clan Capital that has high DPS and moderate hitpoints, behaving as an enlarged version of the Cannon Cart in the Builder Base. Like the Cannon Cart, it can remain shooting in place for a time once its cart is destroyed.

Siege Machine

An offensive weapon that carries your Clan Castle troops. They are built in the Workshop using Gold; while you can hold multiple Siege Machines at any time, only one can be used in each attack.

Single Player Campaign

The Single Player Campaign is a series of computer-controlled villages that offer increasing resource rewards. Each village can be destroyed an infinite number of times, but any resources present can only be looted once (if only part of the loot on a single-player village is looted in an attack, the remaining resources will be present to be taken in the next attack). No trophies are won or lost, and attacking a computer-controlled base will not break a shield. At least one Star must be earned in an attack on a particular village to unlock the next village.

Single Target Damage

Damage that is only applied to a single specific unit targeted. Contrast with Splash Damage.

Six-pack

A war term used to refer to the act of scoring six stars with both of a player's war attacks.

Skeleton

A subtroop spawned by numerous means, including Witches, Drop Ships, Skeleton Spells and Skeleton Traps. Has medium DPS but low HP, and is unable to trigger traps except in the Clan Capital.

Skeleton Barrel

A temporary Elixir Troop in the Home Village, and a permanent Clan Capital Troop. It flies towards defenses and attempts to break apart on top of them, releasing a large number of Skeletons when destroyed. In the Clan Capital, Skeleton Barrels are deployed in triplets.

Skeleton Glider

A subtroop spawned by the Flying Fortress as it gets damaged. It attempts to ram the nearest defense, dealing a small amount of damage and spawning Skeletons when destroyed.

Skeleton Park

The eighth District unlocked in the Clan Capital.

Skeleton Trap

A trap that summons skeletons upon triggering, distracting nearby troops. Unlike most traps, it can be configured to affect either Ground Troops or Air Troops, but not both.

Skeleton Spell

A dark spell that creates skeletons upon usage, distracting nearby defenses.

Skin

See Hero Skin.

Sneaky Archer

A ground troop in the Builder Base and Clan Capital. She functions just like a regular Archer, except her passive ability allows her to become invisible to defenses for a few seconds after she is deployed. In the Clan Capital, Sneaky Archers are deployed in groups of five.

Sneaky Goblin

A Super Troop based on the Goblin. It possesses a Cloak ability, much like the Sneaky Archer, that allows it to stay invisible to defenses briefly after it is deployed.

Sniping

The act of destroying Buildings from a distance without retaliation (such as Archers placed barely out of range of a defense), or destroying a target building or group of buildings (usually the Town Hall or resource storages) while causing minimal damage to the surrounding buildings (such as by using Sneaky Goblins sent to the Town Hall with a Siege Machine to destroy the Town Hall).

Spear Thrower

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that deals single-target damage to both ground and air troops, similar to the Archer Tower in the Home Village or Builder Base. It has an average fire rate and moderate DPS.

Spell

Spells are abilities present in the Home Village and Clan Capital, which support an attacker's troops. In the Home Village, Spells are created in the Spell Factory and Dark Spell Factory, whereas in the Clan Capital each spell has its own dedicated Spell Factory.

Spell Factory

The Spell Factory is an army building that the player can use to create Elixir spells. Only a certain number of spells may be created at one time, based upon the Spell Factory level.

Spell Storage

An army building exclusive to the Clan Capital which controls the amount of spells that can be used in a Clan Capital attack.

Spell Tower

A defense in the Home Village that holds spells that can be used against enemy attackers, such as by enraging other defenses, poisoning attackers or making targets invisible.

Splash Damage

Damage that applies to all units within a specified radius of the targeted unit. Contrast with Single Target Damage.

Spring Trap

A trap that bounces away the first group of ground troops that step on it, removing them from the battle entirely.

Spring Weight

A statistic for ground Builder Base Troops that controls the interactions between them and both Push Traps and Spring Traps. Spring weight works similarly to Housing Space in the Home Village, as it controls how many troops can be affected by either of the aforementioned traps. However, it does not control how many troops can fit into a single Army Camp.

Squad

A term used in the Clan Capital that describes a group of Troops that are deployed at the same time. For example, Sneaky Archers may only be deployed in squads of five in the Clan Capital.

SS

Abbreviation for Stone Slammer.

Star

The main scoring method in Clash of Clans. Up to three can be earned in a single battle: one for destroying the Town Hall (or Builder Hall, in the case of a Versus Battle), one for destroying 50% of buildings and the other for destroying 100% of the buildings. It determines the amount of trophies that can be won in a raid; scoring more stars in a raid will award you more trophies for that raid.

Star Bonus

Bonus resources awarded upon scoring a total of five Stars across all Multiplayer Battles. Once earned, they are deposited in the Treasury.

Star Laboratory

A Laboratory-like building in the Builder Base that is used to upgrade Builder Base Troops.

Stone Slammer

A Siege Machine that behaves like a larger version of a Balloon, targeting defenses rather than the Town Hall and doing large damage to walls wherever it attacks.

Stoned

A war term referring to the use of three Golems in a kill squad.

Storage

A generic term for all of the player's Gold, Elixir and Dark Elixir storages. It typically does not refer to other forms of storage, such as collectors, the Clan Castle or the Town Hall.

Strongman's Caravan

The structure in the Home Village used to access Clan Games.

Subtroop

A generic term for troops that are spawned by other troops and cannot be trained directly, such as Golemites, Skeletons, Lava Pups and Bats. They cannot be deployed directly, or donated via the Clan Castle.

Super Archer

A Super Troop based on the Archer. She has a longer range than the Archer and her arrows travel a considerably long distance, doing damage to multiple buildings at once.

Super Barbarian

A Super Troop based on the Barbarian, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital. He possesses high damage and moderate hitpoints, with a rage ability that allows him to increase its damage and speed temporarily after deployment (akin to the Raged Barbarian in the Builder Base).

Super Bowler

A Super Troop based on the Bowler. Compared to the regular Bowler, the Super Bowler's boulders bounce three times, allowing for him to damage buildings from a longer distance than the Bowler.

Super Dragon

A Super Troop based on the Dragon, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital. It sears enemies with bursts of flames, dealing very high area damage (with a significant area of effect) to its target, and has very high hitpoints.

Super Dragon Post

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that houses a Super Dragon to defend the District.

Super Giant

A Super Troop based on the Giant, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital. He has higher damage and hitpoints than two regular Giants (which the Super Giant takes as much Housing Space as), and is able to do 5x damage to walls.

Super Giant Post

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that houses Super Giants to defend the District.

Super Miner

A Super Troop based on the Miner. He attacks with a drill with a very high Attack Rate and that does increasing damage over time to single targets, much like the Inferno Dragon (but with less variance in DPS). Once defeated, he drops an explosive barrel which explodes for high damage in its vicinity.

Super Minion

A Super Troop based on the Minion. It possesses high damage with moderate hitpoints, with a long shot ability (similar to that of the Beta Minion) that allows it to fire its first five shots from very long range.

Super Troops

A class of troops in the Home Village that are variants of normal troops, that can be accessed temporarily with Dark Elixir once a troop has been sufficiently upgraded. They are unlocked at Town Hall level 11.

Super P.E.K.K.A

The tenth troop unlocked in the Builder Base that is also present in the Clan Capital. Like a normal P.E.K.K.A in the Home Village, it has very high DPS and hitpoints. Its passive ability allows it to deal heavy damage upon death.

Super Sauna

The structure in the Home Village used to boost Super Troops.

Super Valkyrie

A Super Troop based on the Valkyrie. She carries a Rage Spell bottle on her, which she will drop to enrage other nearby troops when she is defeated.

Super Wall Breaker

A Super Troop based on the Wall Breaker. It rolls on a barrel bomb, which explodes regardless of whether or not the Super Wall Breaker detonates its bomb normally, making it a more reliable option to break walls.

Super Witch

A Super Troop based on the Witch. Instead of summoning a large horde of Skeletons, she summons a single giant skeleton called a Big Boy, which possesses high damage and hitpoints.

Super Wizard

A Super Troop based on the Wizard, that appears in the Home Village and Clan Capital. His ability allows him to attack multiple targets close by the initial target, albeit with reduced damage on these targets.

Super Wizard Tower

A Defensive Building in the Clan Capital that stations a Super Wizard, much like how the Wizard Tower hosts a Wizard. Its attacks can hit both ground troops and air troops, and chain to targets nearby the one it hits, much like the Super Wizard. The Super Wizard Tower has a moderately slow Attack Rate and moderately low DPS and range.

Swag

A term used to refer to the action of either not using certain troops and/or spells or dropping spells (usually Freeze and Invisibility Spells randomly around the base that you are attacking at the end of a successful attack which you do not have to use everything to 3-star.

T

Tag

May refer to either Clan Tag or Player Tag, depending on context.

Temporary Content

A class of troops, spells, and traps that are only available to use in the game for a limited time. They cannot be donated in Clan Castles, cannot be upgraded, and disappear after their designated period expires.

Tesla

Depending on the context, it may be used to refer to the Hidden Tesla, Mega Tesla, Giga Tesla, or Hidden Mega Tesla.

TH

See Town Hall.

TH X.5

A war term referring to players who purposefully upgrade buildings, troops, spells and heroes in a way such that they have the offense of a Town Hall level (X+1) but the defense of a Town Hall level X. It is most often seen at Town Hall levels 9-10 (TH 8.5, TH 9.5).

Tiebreaker

A set of criteria used in Clan Wars or in Versus Battles to reduce the possibility of a draw when both sides score the same amount of stars. In Clan Wars, the only tiebreaker is the overall destruction; in Versus Battles, overall destruction is first considered, with time remaining being a secondary tiebreaker if required.

Time Fail

An attacking term used commonly in war contexts to describe an attack that fails to complete an objective (usually 3 stars) because the 3-minute battle timer expired.

Town Hall

The building that represents the heart of your village. If an attacker destroys your Town Hall, you lose the battle regardless of how many other buildings are destroyed, as well as a portion of available Resources, as it counts as one Star in a battle. It also stores the player's stock of Magic Items.

Trophy

Trophies (also referred to as cups) are the Clash of Clans ranking system. When a multiplayer attack is won, the winner gains an amount of trophies, while the loser loses trophies. Trophies affect multiplayer matchmaking as well as overall player and Clan rank.

Trophy League

A more formal term referring to the Leagues in the Home Village.

Trader

A character that appears in the Home Village, that sells Magic Items, Resources and Clan House parts for Gems and Raid Medals.

Trap

Traps are defensive items that, once triggered, perform a single function and are then rendered inoperative for the rest of the battle. Traps are hidden from the attacker's view until an attacking troop that the trap can affect comes into its trigger range. At that point the trap will appear, perform its function (usually damaging the nearby troops) and then become inactive. Inactive traps are visible to the village owner and his clanmates, but do not appear on the attacker's screen at all.
In the Home Village, traps will have to be re-armed once used, while in the Builder Base, they are automatically re-armed and ready for the next battle.

Treasury

A feature inside the Clan Castle that stores Resources won from Clan Wars, Clan Games, and Star Bonuses.

Triple

A war term used to refer to a 3-star attack, or the act of performing such an attack. The term may extend to usage outside of war.

Troop

Units you use for attacking in the Single Player Campaign and other villages. Each troop has its own housing space that determines how many of each troop can fit into your army.

U

Unicorn

A Pet that follows its Hero to heal them, in similar fashion to a Healer. Unlike Healers, however, the Unicorn is capable of healing both ground and air units.

Unit

See Troop. It is also used occasionally to generically refer to both troops and buildings.

Upgrade

A fundamental function of Clash of Clans that allows you to improve Buildings and Troops, at the expense of resources and time (and possibly a Builder). Most buildings become non-functional for the duration of the upgrade, including defenses and collectors. However, certain buildings and all troops will be usable throughout the duration of an upgrade.

V

Valkyrie

A Dark Elixir Troop in the Home Village that does melee splash damage with her whirlwind attacks. She can damage multiple buildings at once, and she has moderately high DPS and HP.

Versus Battle

A type of battle in the Builder Base, where two players of similar trophy counts attack and defend each other's bases simultaneously. The player with more stars wins the Versus Battle (in the case they are the same, the higher overall destruction wins), and subsequently is entitled to receiving trophies (from the opponent) and a Win Bonus (newly generated by the game) if it is available.

Victory

Defined in Clash of Clans as a successful attack in terms of Stars: earning at least one Star will result in a victory and trophies will be earned from the player that was raided. Victories will trigger league bonuses if the player is in a League, and awards resources in Versus Battles. It can also refer to the act of scoring more stars in a Clan War or Versus Battle (or in the case of a tie, causing more destruction) compared to the enemy.

Village

Refers to either controllable 44-by-44 area in Clash of Clans (the Home Village or, much less commonly, the Builder Base).

Villager

Villagers are the pink-haired non-combatant females wandering around the Home Village and Builder Base. They are typically seen entering and leaving the Town Hall (or Builder Hall in the Builder Base). When the bases are not under attack, they tend to walk up to a random structure or obstacle and observe it for a moment (often clapping their hands in appreciation), and then wander off. Once an attack begins on the Home Village, all villagers will immediately run back to the Town Hall (they do not appear at all during a Versus Battle) and will not be seen again for the duration of the attack. Villagers cannot attack or be attacked.

Village Edit Mode

Village Edit Mode is an easier way to construct a base that you earn at Town Hall level 3 (in the Home Village) or Builder Hall level 3 (in the Builder Base). In Village Edit Mode, you have the ability to get rid of all objects, and completely redo your base.

Village Guard

Village Guard is a form of Village protection that is awarded immediately in relatively short amounts of time after a Shield expires. Raiding under the Village Guard provides no penalty whatsoever.

Vines

A terrain feature in the Clan Capital, exclusive to the Skeleton Park district. They essentially behave as permanent Walls, untargetable by ground troops, but can be passed over by use of the Jump Spell.

W

Wall

A defensive barrier that prevents ground troops that cannot bypass it (either innately like the Hog Rider or via a Jump Spell) from passing through without destroying it. If a ground unit's target is behind a wall and the unit cannot locate a path that bypasses the wall, the unit will instead attack the wall segment closest to its intended path. Typically the term 'wall' is used to identify one or more wall segments. The highest level walls have higher HP than even the Town Hall.
In the Builder Base, walls come in groups of five segments that cannot be separated, but troops will only attack one wall segment if they are forced to.

Wall Breaker

Wall Breakers are specialty troops in the Home Village that preferentially attack walls. When they attack, they cause splash damage but destroy themselves in the process. Their single attack causes 40 times their normal damage to any walls in its splash radius. If they are killed before they are able to attack, they cause reduced damage.

Wall Ring

A Magic Item which is used in bulk to upgrade Walls in the Home Village and Builder Base.

Wall Segment

An individual piece of a wall. Any length of wall longer than a single segment is typically referred to generally as a Wall.

Wall Wrecker

A Siege Machine that uses its ram to attack and moves in the general direction of the Town Hall. Its ram allows it to deal 10 times its normal damage to walls.

War

See Clan War.

War Base

A War Base is the base each player uses specifically during Clan Wars. They are maintained separately from the player's normal village, although they have the same number and level of Buildings. All buildings, traps and heroes are active, even if they are being upgraded on the player's normal Village. Any resources in the storages and collectors in a war base are generated for the war base and are unrelated to the player's own resource pool. The Clan Castle is similarly unrelated to the player's normal Clan Castle and must be filled separately by clan members using the Clan Wars interface.

War Loot

War loot is bonus loot gained by participating in Clan Wars. Winning a Clan War results in significantly more war loot than a loss or a draw. War loot is stored in the Clan Castle where it can be either left or transferred to the player's storages.

War Weight

A hidden statistic that controls matchmaking in Clan Wars. It is applied to every base, and upgrading troops, spells, heroes and defensive buildings will increase the weight.

War Win Bonus

The potential amount of loot that a player can win from a Clan War, earned from war attacks. This loot is only awarded in full if the Clan wins the war; draws and losses award significantly less.

Warden

Warden Walk

A strategy where the Grand Warden is used together with Healers to destroy key defenses and/or to create a funnel. Often similar to a Queen Walk in function and purpose.

Water

A terrain feature in the Clan Capital. Buildings cannot be placed on top of water, and ground troops cannot walk over them without the use of the Frost Spell. Air troops are able to fly over water.

WB

Win Bonus

A term used to refer to resources won from a victory in a Versus Battle. It is also colloquially used in the Home Village to refer to the League Bonus.

Witch

A ranged ground unit in the Home Village that summons skeletons to help it fight.

Wizard

A ranged ground unit in the Home Village that has a good amount of HP and high DPS. Its attack causes splash damage over a very small radius.

Wizard Tower

A defensive building in the Home Village that has an average attack rate, low range, and low DPS. It targets both ground and air units and does splash damage.

Wizard Valley

The third District unlocked in the Clan Capital. It contains the Spell Storage, among other important army buildings.

WW

Commonly used term to stand for Wall Wrecker. Less commonly used to refer to a Warden Walk.

X

X-Bow

A defensive building in the Home Village that has an very high attack rate, long range, and high DPS. It has two modes: ground, which attacks only ground troops at a very long range, and ground and air, which attacks both air troops and ground troops at a slightly reduced range. It has limited ammunition and must be periodically reloaded.

Yak

Yeti

An Elixir troop in the Home Village possessing moderate damage and hitpoints that produces Yetimites when taking damage or when destroyed.

Yetimite

A Subtroop spawned by the Yeti that attacks defenses, destroying itself to damage them.

Z

Zap Spell

Common term used to refer to the Lightning Spell because of its resemblance to the Zap spell in Clash Royale.

Zap Trap

A Trap in the Clan Capital that deals high damage to a single Troop.
