Out of all the troops you've ever known, there is one more - Temporary Troops

Hi, welcome to my new guide on temporary troops. These troops make a temporary entry to the game and will be available for a limited period of time. Usually, they come during special events, and will always have their level capped depending on the player’s Town Hall level. They are trained using the regular Barracks and consume the resources already existing. As for the troop donations, if your clanmates ask for reinforcements, you’ll be able to donate your version of the troop and can make requests. In this guide, you will learn about the various temporary troops in Clash of Clans.

Avatar Ice Wizard

1. Ice Wizard[]

Ice Wizard was the present players received in the 3 days of Clashmas event which took place between Christmas and the beginning of 2016. The Santa’s Gift was reintroduced as the first present as well as The Freeze Trap as the second. The Ice Wizard could be purchased from 10:01 12/30/16 until UTC 10:00 on 1/6/17. Ice Wizard is a ranged troop that is able to be trained using Elixir. The Ice Wizard is quite similar to the Wizard from the beginning. However, there are some modifications. He is a favorite attack on defenses, does little damage, and is more expensive at higher levels. With a preference for defensive structures, he will skip over all other structures and won’t attack the enemy Clan Castle troops.

Ice Wizards place defense structures over other targets. They ignore all other forms of structures and troops as long as defenses remain on the field. This is even when they are attacked by hostile Clan Castle troops, Heroes, or Skeleton Trap skeletons. Be aware that, like all troops that are geared towards defensive measures, Ice Wizards are not able to think of their Clan Castle to be a defense. Once all defenses are eliminated, Ice Wizards become like any other troop, with no preferred targets. They attack any building closest to them, regardless of its nature. They will switch to attack any enemy unit until they are aware of any other nearby. Ice Wizards are one of the most loved temporary troops in Clash of Clans and appeared during the Christmas of 2016, 2017 and 2019.

2. Battle Ram[]

Battle Ram was a temporary troop that was introduced in August of 2017, as part of the annual Clashiversary celebrations. The Battle Ram was available at UTC from 4/8/17 until UTC 07:00 on the 8th of November and then from UTC 07:00 on 31/8/17 until UTC 07:00 on 7/9/17. Battle Ram consists of two Barbarians carrying a log, making use of it to cause damage. With a predilection for walls, Battle Ram will always go toward the nearest wall, regardless of whether a structure is within or outside. They will never look at any other structures or troops if there is an obstacle on the base. When Battle Ram reaches its destination it will hit with force, inflicting damage to the walls of the adversary while breaking the log. The Barbarians will then continue their attack the same way as regular Barbarians do.

Battle Ram1

The Battle Ram is an excellent alternative for Wall Breakers, as they are more affordable and come with more hit points, which means they are more likely to last until they hit the walls. The Battle Ram isn’t upgraded within the Laboratory. However, its status can be upgraded based on the Town Hall level. Higher Town Halls have stronger Battle Rams. At the Town Hall level, Battle Ram deals damage and also has hit points. The Battle Ram’s subsequent appearance, the Barbarians it spawned perform damages per second. It is similar to its Clash Royale counter-part.

Pumpkin Barbarian info

3. Pumpkin Barbarian[]

Pumpkin Barbarian was available for a limited time during the 2017 Halloween. They are available in 2021’s Halloween celebration, however only within the Pumpkin Graveyard challenge. They are just like regular Barbarians with pumpkin helmets which protect their death in one hit, similar to the shields used in Clash Royale. But, they could be thrown off by spring traps. Pumpkin Barbarian is an assault troop inspired by the standard Barbarian. The stats of the Barbarian is the same as the standard one but the main difference lies in the Pumpkin. In the event of damage, the shield is broken then the Pumpkin Barbarian turns into a regular Barbarian.

Pumpkin Barbarians do not have a preferred attack target. They will attack the nearest building. But, once they are aware of hostile Clan Castle troops, Heroes, or Skeleton Trap skeletons. They will then leave the building they had previously targeted and engage in a battle with enemies. When all nearby troops of the enemy have been defeated, their Pumpkin Barbarians will take on the next building. During Clash of Clans, the Pumpkin Barbarian showed up twice:

Giant Skeleton info

4. Giant Skeleton[]

The Giant Skeleton was a temporary troop on display during the Halloween of 2017, together with Pumpkin Barbarian. They were again made available in the Jack Skellingboom event, together with an event called the Ice Wizard, which lasted from December 28th, 2017 until January 31st, 2018. They were released again on Halloween and the Skeleton Barrel. The Giant Skeleton is based on the Clash Royale card with an identical name. The troop is comprised of a huge skeleton armed with an enormous bomb. He resembles a Wall Breaker. The Wall Breaker, however, is larger and does not make a suicide attempt by blasting the bomb. Instead, he’s an assault troop that swoops over structures and after death, drops massive, powerful bombs over the entire village.

Giant Skeleton1

A differentiator from Wall Breaker is the preferred target. The Wall Breaker is the preference of wall targets that can inflict additional damage on the walls. The Giant Skeleton is a popular area of attack for defenses. With moderate hitpoints, he will be able to last a few minutes in combat. However, he does very little damage. The enormous bomb that can be dropped by him when killed is where he demonstrates his true worth. Giant Skeletons will prioritize defense structures over all other targets. They will override all other kinds of enemy structures and troops as long as defenses are still in the battle. This is even when they are attacked by the enemy Clan Castle troops, Heroes, or Skeleton Trap skeletons.

Be aware that, like all troops geared towards defense, Giant Skeletons don’t think of the Clan Castle as defenses, regardless of the fact that it may contain soldiers from the enemy. But they do consider the Grand Warden along with the activated Town Hall weapon as defensive structures. After the defenses have been eliminated, Giant Skeletons will then behave like other troops with no favorite target. They’ll strike the nearest building, regardless of its type they are attacking. They will then attack any enemy unit if they notice any other nearby. In the game, the Giant Skeleton appeared three times.

El Primo info

6. El Primo[]

El Primo is a temporary troop added on December 14 in 2018, to commemorate Brawl Stars Global Launch. The troop was inspired by Brawl Stars El Primo. It is a high-hit point melee brawler. But, the character on Clash of Clans El Primo is the Strongman from Clan Games dressed in a cheap Brawl Stars El Primo costume. Although they don’t look alike, Strongman runs and moves exactly like the Brawl Stars’ original troop. His primary target is defense structures, which is why the building he is avoiding and won’t attack enemies Clan Castle troops. Also, he has a distinct ability. While he’s an inclination to target defensive structures, he can deal 20 times the damage to walls.

Avatar El Primo

Los Primos prioritize defensive structures over all other targets. They will avoid any other enemies’ structures and troops, while any defenses remain on the battlefield. This is the case even if they are being attacked by the enemy Clan Castle troops, Heroes, Skeleton Traps. Be aware that, like any other troops who prioritize defenses, El Primos do not think of the Clan Castle as an effective defense, regardless of the fact that it may contain enemies. However, they do consider the Grand Warden as well as the active Town Hall weapon to be defensive structures. After all the defenses have been destroyed, El Primos become like every other troop without a preferred target. They’ll attack any building that is closest to them, regardless of the nature, and they will then switch to attack any enemy unit when they notice any other nearby. Clash of Clans only added El Primo once.

Royal Ghosts have no preferred attack target. They simply target the nearest building.
