Summary
- The Monolith is a defense unlocked at Town Hall level 15. It is a single-target defense which fires arcane energy balls of different colors depending on the maximum hitpoints of the target. Its high base damage is supplemented by bonus values equivalent to a percentage of the target's maximum health.
- Uniquely among defensive buildings, it is built and upgraded with Dark Elixir instead of Gold.
Strategies
Defensive Strategy
- The Monolith can be treated like a single-target Inferno Tower; it makes short work of high-health enemies due to its percentage damage. Unlike the Inferno Tower, it reaches its maximum potential immediately, making it a threat that enemies must address promptly.
- It also has more range than the Inferno Tower, with a range of 11, which could allow it to target enemies from much further away, meaning that it can outrange the Flame Flinger and the Rocket Spears from the Royal Champion.
- The Monolith's main weakness is its rather slow rate of fire, which combined with its single target attacks makes it vulnerable to swarms of smaller units. Complement the Monolith with splash-damage defenses or multi-target Inferno Towers to address this weakness.
- Put splash and/or multi-targeting defenses beside it to help take out swarms quickly, thus making the Monolith target onto the troops with higher hitpoints, thus giving them a great synergy with each other.
- Unlike what one may expect, the Rage Spell Tower has no effect on its percentage-based damage bonus. If you wish to take advantage of the Tower, it may be more intuitive to place it near other defenses.
Offensive Strategy
- As the most devastating aspect of the Monolith is how incredibly fast this defense can take out Heroes and high-hitpoint troops such as Super Witches, you want to avoid it from locking onto them. You can use Freeze Spells or Overgrowth Spells to stop the Monolith from attacking, and Lightning Spells to force it to retarget. Diggy and the Battle Drill can also stun the Monolith to similar effects.
- With similar hitpoints to a Clan Castle, you may be able to take this out with an Invisibility Spell and Skeleton Spell combo.
Upgrade Differences
- When initially constructed, the Monolith appears to be four pieces of purple stone floating over a bottomless pit, attached by four iron chains to keep it from floating away, they widen the most below the midsection and the inner edges have iron linings and the middle has some reinforcements connecting to an indent on the stone pieces. The top is a floating piece of triangular purple stone that is hollow and split into three pieces at the middle of each edge with iron lining at the edge, a floating orb of energy floats inside. The foundation is made of purple stone and have a grind pattern on the inner wall, the edges are made of purplish gray stones and the corner is just some gray stone.
- At level 2, all the iron linings are changed to gold, the middle bits of reinforcements are now kite-shaped that narrows to the indent, the ones on the floating triangle has ones that face each corner. At each corner of the foundation a purple stone plate with flat diamond-shaped spike on top layers over it, the gray stone below extends to the inner side of the wall.
- At level 3, the Monolith's shape changes completely, and its floating stones except the grey triangular stone now appear to have ¼th of a circle each and gains more reinforcements. All the purple parts are now grey-colored. Its foundation also turns into a color of grey, and its slabs are now grayish-purple, with the spikes turning into brass, and the sides now having gold lines and gains some dark grey spikes. The chains below are now replaced by black wires. The bottom pit glows a bluish-green color.

- An example of this would be the Moai statues of Easter Island, or Stonehenge.
