Summary

  • Super Dragon Posts are a defense in the Clan Capital. Although it is unlocked at Capital Hall level 10 in the Capital Peak, they can be rebuilt much earlier in the Dragon Cliffs district, where it can be rebuilt at District Hall level 1 (this requires Capital Hall level 6).
  • The Super Dragon Post stations a single Super Dragon, which patrols the vicinity of the Super Dragon Post and defends against attackers.
  • Despite having defensive capabilities, defense-targeting troops like Super Giants will not target it over other defenses.

Strategies

Defensive Strategy

  • Super Dragons are powerful flying units and will act accordingly when properly placed. They will cause substantial damage to grouped units, due to their splash.
  • A strategy to attacking Dragon Cliffs is to use Sneaky Archers or similar to clear out as many defending Super Dragons as possible in a first attack before using Hog Raiders or similar cleanup troops to try and finish off the base in the second attack. To make this strategy as difficult as possible, make the Super Dragon Posts extremely difficult to reach in the first attack; this can be accomplished by placing them deep into the layout.
    • At higher levels where spell space allows for it, Lightning Spells may be used to destroy Super Dragon Posts that cannot be easily reached, in order to pull the corresponding Super Dragon in to be picked off. Upgrading the Super Dragon Posts mitigates this strategy somewhat, as it takes at least four Lightning Spells to destroy a guard post if the level of Lightning Spell is lower than that of the post. It may also be wise to space the Super Dragon Posts so that multiple cannot be destroyed by the same Lightning Spells.

Offensive Strategy

  • The Super Dragon is extremely threatening as a defender, boasting higher damage output than defending Super Giants or Siege Carts, having comparable hitpoints to the Super Giants and being able to fly (which prevents it from being targeted by most units).
  • Of the units that can target air, if they are deployed on their own, Super Wizards and Minion Hordes will be wiped out quickly, Flying Fortresses will not target Super Dragons over defenses, leaving only Sneaky Archers (with their Cloak ability), other Super Dragons and Inferno Dragons as safe options to damage a defending Super Dragon.
    • This does not mean that Super Wizards or Minion Hordes are bad choices for attacking them; they just require cover from high-hitpoint units like Super Giants or Super P.E.K.K.As (as do Sneaky Archers once their cloak runs out). These high-hitpoint units can be deployed to distract the dragons while smaller units chip away at their health.
  • Do note that Super Dragons will generally only roam the area around their post, and may inexplicably retarget if a troop they are targeting leaves the vicinity of their post. This can be mitigated by destroying the Super Dragon Post, allowing the Super Dragon to roam freely around the district.
  • Destroying the Super Dragon Post while leaving the Super Dragon alive can be done to kite the Super Dragon to some location in the district before starting a proper attack elsewhere. Because Super Dragons move slowly, doing such a maneuver prevents it from participating in the defense for a significant portion of the attack. Done correctly, the Super Dragon can be avoided entirely; their defeat is not required for completely destroying the district.
  • Because defeating the Super Dragon is not required to destroy the district, some strategies exploit this distinction by attempting to avoid them entirely. Super Miners take advantage of this, combined with the Super Dragon's slow movement speed, as well as the Dragon's inability to chase them while burrowed underground, to outrun them altogether. This is made even easier if the Super Dragon is slowed down by the Frost Spell.

Upgrade Differences

  • Super Dragon Posts undergo significant visual changes at levels 2 and 4. The visual changes are consistent among the remaining post of Clan Capital: Super Giant Post and Raid Cart Post. However, the visual design atop the roofs varies according to the type of troop featured at each specific building post.
    • When initially rebuilt, the Super Dragon Post consists of flaming Super Dragon egg with three horns rising around. Also, a chunk of Capital Gold appears on the entrance as dragons are known for their greediness in terms of treasure (this feature is not seen among the rest of other post of Clan Capital). It has a wooden foundation with a band of ropes and a fireplace.
    • At level 2, the band of ropes is replaced with stone. The entrance is a bit elevated and appears to be much darker than before. The firepit is painted with white color.
    • At level 3, the base of the supporting foundation that is made from stone becomes thicker. The elevated portion of the entrance looks higher than before and the fireplace was fueled with some wood.
    • At level 4, the base gained some metal spikes and a thin layer of silver metal covering above the stone foundation.

Super Dragon Posts as they appear in the Dev Update video for the Clan Capital

  • Compared to other defense posts in the Clan Capital, the aesthetics for level 1 and 2 appear to be swapped.
  • In pre-release videos of the Clan Capital, the Super Dragon Post appears with a different aesthetic: instead of the flaming fireball on the roof, a cauldron containing purple liquid is present instead.
  • It is the only guard post in the game to feature an air troop.
