In-game Troop Movement Speed (TMS) is listed as a number that appears to have little relevance to anything. For example, a Barbarian has a movement speed of 16. What does that mean in terms of number of tiles traveled per unit of time?
This page seeks to answer that question.
The data files, which can only be accessed onto a jail broken iDevice, have a value listed for speed that appears to be 12.5 * (The in game speed) rounded to the next 10.
This gives a value that looks like the range values in the data files. Typically range is represented as number of tiles equaling multiples of 100. So 1 tile = 100, 2 tiles = 200, etc.
It is likely that the speed in the data file represents the number of tiles the unit will move in one second.
Speed in Tiles/Second can be also calculated by dividing In Game Speed by 8.
